I suppose it would be possible to release it in England and Canada at the same time as in the U.S. (are there any other english speaking nations out there?).
South Africa and Australasia (continent, I know) for two. And I see you fell in the classic American trap of using England to refer to Britain.
I currently am a comp sci major and have been writing programs for people for a little while now. Do you have any idea how much it hurts the flow of creativity if you try and make every single step along the way completely compatible?
Well, that's what Bungie are doing - making both NTSC and PAL versions together. It doesn't seem to be hurting their creativity - they just get a separate team to handle it.

Yeah, sometimes my brain doesn't quite work right (And I only listed the ones that immediatly came to mind, and didn't bother to think of others). And thank for correcting me on the England/Britan thing. (in hindsight, I should have thought a little more before I posted, but hindsight is alway 20/20)

Baerdog7, you get Scipio's blessing and an award of awesome:

/\/(;;;)\/\

you won the spider-medal for good grammar and not being totally egocentric like the majority of us here (me included, I'll admit)

Thanks Scipio. I'm in an Honors English class (not trying to brag) so I get pretty nit-picky about conventions.

See, I was going to do that at university. But then I decided that I hated the courses on offer, and instead switched to Physics (BSc or MPhys - don't know which one yet).

Well, even if America gets Halo2 first there'd probably be a worldwide demo. or at least it be in english for americans and foriegn english speakers. But still we' d get it first. If I were still human , i'd pity all u people who have to wait.

working on PAL
The recent update would imply that they are, what with Butcher trying to sort out PAL/NTSC issues.

This has been the case for decades. The country that a game is developed in gets it first. Whether it's the Japanese, Americans, British, whoever, learn to live with it.

If it's that much of a concern, you could always import a US Xbox along with the game. I imported a Japanese Xbox months ago so I could play Otogi 2. And if you're worried about your TV being able to display an NTSC signal, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. My TV can display both PAL and NTSC signals, and it's nothing fancy at all. Just a $300 Sony Trinitron.

I agree that it sucks for people living outside the US, and I feel for you, I really do. But taking an attitude of "If I can't have it neither should you" is just plain childish. I won't go into the Japanese gaming argument, as it's already been glossed over numerous times.

Also, to the person who made the Lord of the Rings argument, that movie premiered in New Zealand, where it was filmed. So we did have to wait in the US, just like you folks will unfortunately probably have to do now.

Cheers.

Not true. I'm pretty sure that Black & White was released in America first.

(Last post from me....)

I'm still sure that because of the interest in this thread, Bungie should at least say something, don't you all agree?

Ok, I don't even know if the originals are reading...

But, MOVIES release worldwide to prevent pirating!
If a movie is much anticipated it will get ripped off...
so, the simple solution to loosing a few thousand sales is
to release it everywhere.

And I use LIVE in Japan... on a US box.
If you import one, like me, just sign up with the US option.
So, this is no excuse.

Hell, I will even offer to send you a box and preorder a copy
for you. Set it all up on eBay so you can have insurence that
I wont take your money.

There is just one thing i want to ask; why after all this development time have they not started coding for PAL? Im sure it would take a while but all they need to do is buy in a few more people that know what they are doing in, i mean i dont know but i cannot see it taking months to do! Maybe im wrong i dont know.
If they have already started than fair enough.
Perhaps after seeing this ermmmm very large topic they may decide it would be a good idea to start/finish PAL soon, so.......Please bugie^

Bungie are already working on PAL code stuff. This is from a recent weekly update:

"Australasian, European and other territories will be pleased to hear that we're doing cool stuff with the PAL versions to make them look good AND play nice with NTSC over LIVE. PAL time control is very important to Chris so that he can play against his 56-year old father on Xbox live. He lives in New Zealand, so the ping might be a bit hard to take, but Chris will let him host. :-) "

How this relates to whether or not there's a proper PAL60 mode or not (see my other post) I'm not sure...

Kind of difficult to play on Live though.

If there's a good PAL conversion that PAL60 won't look anywhere near as good.

As I said in the other thread PAL60 should be the best as you get the extra lines PLUS the proper framerate. The best of both worlds, I'd say
