theres just too much to search through..can we at least weed things out by date?...why am i getting posts from 2004 on this thing?...

I agree with that one. Even though the search feature is nice, in the somewhat distant future, I'd like to see a search feature, that's more like the one on the Bioware forums. Oops, there I go again, mentioning Bioware.

PS. Even though Wuyie is quite the interesting character, let's not make him the subject of this topic, shall we?

Yeah, they're working on updating the feature, or so they tell us.

You can help by PM'ing runningturtle. He's the guy who pretty much designed it under Achronos' tutelage.

Maybe Skiptrace as well? I know he's involved with helping interpret problems (hence his title as "Web Tester.")

Finally, there's always Achronos to talk to. But he thinks the Search Feature is fine right now, but I'm sure some suggestions to make it better wouldn't hurt. Personally, I'd like it to be a little more.......extensive? I feel you can only go back so far. And the way it repeats your searches (by displaying the same find over and over) needs to be fixed, if possible.

But yeah, PM runningturtle, Achronos, or Skiptrace and let them know the problem.

My suggestions? (note that theses are mainly for the Flood forum, but could be applied to the other forums.)

If I'm not mistaken, the purpose of the Flood forum is for non-Bungie related discussion, such as upcoming games, movies, etc. I haven't seen any of that lately, and it would be great if it was stopped, or at least pushed in the right way.

Flaming needs to be cut down. Someone will post a simple question. He'll get flamed for it. The people should be helping him, instead of hurting.

A rule about googleing stuff is needed. "Search Google before posting a question!" or "Use seartch feature" would probably stop a bunch of question threads from appearing, and stop the flaming from such threads.

More attention for the stickies needs to be made. Things like "I like pie!1" are going on, and no consequences are happening. The "describe yourself" thread has had some spam just like the Mugshots thread and other stickies. Also, it is only a few people that were spamming the Mugshots thread and "say something nice" thread, so why'd we all have to pay for their mistakes?

I might have misunderstood the idea of this thread, but I think this fits.

I agree with Wuyie...no matter how much caps there are in the sticky titles, I and many other people move on and read the other threads, mainly thinking that we already know the rules...but then, lo and behold--I find that I get blacklisted for a rule that I didn't know was a rule to begin with...perhaps, every 500 hours that we have been logged on, every topic appears locked until you spend at least 5 minutes (give or take a couple) reading the crucial stickies....AKA, the stickies that tell the rules, not the ones that tell you where to download oldskool games and whatnot...meh, just an idea...

I think the search engine needs more features...it was implemented, but with friction...I think it should be colored blue, like the forum bar to the right (the search bar is all gray, it looks very contrasting to the rest of the site)...and it needs some more options...

Which brings the group search engine to light...is it just me, or does the group search only work half the time? It's like the gelatinous construction worker sitting on his couch eating the third box of twinkies while watching Jerry Springer--he will only answer the phone about 50 percent of the time...

Maybe it's just my internet incompetence, but you know...I just thought the group issue had to be brought up...maybe it needs to be loosened up in terms of search features, you know...more brief...

This forum would be a much better place if MAC 13720 was moderator *kinda kidding*

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Not too many pple bring up the aesthitic look of a site when they talk about how well it functions but it really is an overlooked part of things. When youre staring at a screen for "x" amount of time, clarity and good color choice can really help eliminate eye strain and fatigue...no one likes those "eye" headaches...honestly I think there is a little too much blue in the site for its own good...anybody else have thoughts on this...maybe having at least one additional color scheme as an option would help...

Personally, I like the color format of this site. For one, I find it much easier on the eyes that your standard white (or light color) background, with dark text. It's a bit of a relief for my eyes when I switch from another site to this one.

I'm not saying that I would be against any format changes. Just that I prefer a darker background, with lighter text.

That was an excellent post, Wuyie.

Seriously, if only there was a way to get people to Read the Stickies, there would be such potential for diminishing the repeat threads. However, the community issues need to be addressed as well- of spmone has a problem, he/she should be able to post about it without fear of flames.

But they wouldn't have to worry about flames if they read the Rules/Stickies. So it's a constant tug between one and the other, neither side waning or weakening.

But yeah, if we can get more Sticky involvement, that would be great. I notice that from time to time I see a "New users cannot create Topics for 24 hours" notice. How's about expanding it to say "New users are encouraged to read the Stickies" and have a link to them?

That might help. Now if only we can find a way to get the current users to do the same....

I'd like to see a "general topics" section, not just a 'bungie general" like the septagon.
There has been many times that i would have liked to get a gammers opinion on certain subjects (non game related), but refrained from posting a topic because the mods are very strict about keeping topics in the proper page.
