Ok let me start off by saying 1-800-4-MY-XBOX blows monkey B*lls...
I've spent four hours with them and all they can say is, “Well thats a tough nut, let me give you the number for Bungie”.
Which mind you the number they gave me for Bungie is a Fee based support number.. wtf?
Ok so now that I'm done ranting I'm turning to the forums, to the people that may actually know how to fix this problem.
I have a Xbox 360, and play Halo 2 on Xbox Live... Or I use to that is... anyways, at home the game and system connected just fine, never had any issues. Now that I'm at school (Rowan University) I'm having problems.
To get the Xbox 360 to be able to connect to Xbox Live I had to register its MAC address with the School, other wise they block the connection, I've had no issues with it there. The Xbox 360 connects in the dashboard to Xbox Live, via the sign in, Xbox Live Market Place, and in Oblivion for the content download. (I have no other games aside form Halo 2 to test the connection)
When I start Halo 2, and go to Xbox Live on the main menu, it states that “Xbox Live cannot be connected, would you like to run the Xbox Live troubleshooter?” If I do that the connection is resolved, but I'm still unable to connect in Halo 2.
Suggestions I've tried via Xbox Customer Care...
-Disconnect the Xbox 360 from the surge protector, and connect to the wall
-Download the August 2006 Xbox 360 backwards compatibility update via your computer
-Delete the Gamer Profile, and recover it
-Delete all of the data associated with Halo 2
-Disconnect the Xbox 360 for 15 min
-Run the Xbox 360 maintenance program in Xbox 360 dashboard and then run the game..
When I do this as the game starts Xbox 360 states that there is an update available and then I download/install it. The game restarts and then still no connection. This update ran last night for the first time, after the Xbox was registered on the network for access. So I suspect this is the issue but Xbox Customer Care doesn't think so because my HDD doesn't show any corrupt data messages.
Does anyone have any further suggestions for me? I'm going to go tomorrow and rent a different game, but I suspect I won't have a problem, considering everything else connects.
PS.. If you frequent Xbox.com, and Bungie.net Forums you may see this message posted on both sites.
Thanks in advance for any help, and ask for any further details if needed, I think I covered it all.
