Dude, stp abbrviettng sntncs by takein out the vowels and start using the Shift key more often, and just plain clean up your grammar.

Go get a wired connection, and switch your ISP to a broadband service.

Also, please read the stickies before you make stupid decisions.

kim... maby you should read the post FIRST before replying. He clearly said he was in the middle of nowhere, which is not the same as the suburbs.

anywase, the only thing you can do to reduce lag with a satalite dish is to only play on clear days and make sure the sun doesent have any sun spots *google sun spots if you do not know what it is.* another possible reason is your e-machine. if possible, get rid of that computer and get a new one that costs AT LEAST $1000 from a company like Gateway or *gasp* Dell. That way you can get a good pc that is trustorthy *and more recent than 1980... beware the e-machine*

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Satellite? I heard it was pretty fast, in comparison to DSL. Have you tried forwarding your ports? Your firewall may be intercepting the incoming (or outgoing) connections, and not all of the packets are making it through.

I thought satellite was slow.

Well, here's a tip: Keep your 50 foot network cable (at least I'm assuming it's a network cable) away from any power cables, like the ones that feed your computer. Try to keep them at least a foot apart, but don't have them right up next to each other. Power cords cause interference with data lines.

And the fact that he's using an e-machines bears no significance on the amount of network latency he's recieving. I use an e-machines to play Halo.

And keep in mind that lag, although annoying, is actually normal. Unless you're having trouble finding a game you can join or lagging out of all the games that you do join, then that's an extreeme case of mad lag.

he dont even know how to find My Computer!!!...i know more than him by far

  • 09.07.2006 5:47 PM PDT

The longer the network cable is, the more prone it is to interference, or the more the signal degrades when it reaches the other end.

The problem may be your ISP, or it may be something 44,000+ miles between you, the satelite, and the ISP place. Anyway, read this:

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

All the "tips" are useless, regardless of what you say, you are almost always going to ping in the seconds range(thats 1000+ ms), it's just the nature of a sattelite connection.

He's right. It's about as pointless as asking us to help you get better graphics when you have one of the most crappiest integrated chipsets around. If you are unable to purchase a better GPU, whether it be because there is no store nearby that sells PC hardware, or you don't have the money for a decent video card, we can't really help you there. Sorry, but you have to deal with it, or find a solution by yourself.
