This is something that came across my mind. Would surround sould be an advantage or a disadvantage. Now most of you probably will think its an advantage, you can tell wich direction the footsteps are coming from, wich direction there is gunfire in, and wich direction someone is talking to you from via voice chat.

But think of it this way, as mentioned avove you can tell wich direction the noise is coming from, in other words, your attention will go to that direction.

Lets say you are guarding the base in a CTF game. A hog comes charging in, horns blaring. Now if every member of your team has surround sound, EVERYONE will face that direction, and start running that way. But actually, they are falling for the enemy teams plan, while the hog goes in from 1 direction, another squad will sneak into the enemy base from the other side and grab the flag.

If you think of it like that surround sound could be a disadvantage.

My conclusion is that it can be a disadvantage at times, but most of the time it will be an advantage. And also, if eveyone uses surround sound (although I doubt that will happen =P) it will add alot of strategy to the game.

Ok thats just stupid. If you had half a brain then you know if a hog came in horns blaring something is up. Cause usually when your trying to capture the flag you try to get in and out as quickly and silently as possible. So i dont think it will be a dissadvantage or advantage at all. You just have to play smart.

Definitely an advantage. The thing you said about everyone turning in that direction...that could just as well happen without sorround sound. BY THE WAY, wouldn't you hear the 'other' people coming if you have sorround sound? Weird question. Diversions happens even without sorround sound. That diversion thing matters if you are smart or stupid. Nothing to do with sorround sound.

Dude if a squad came in horns blaring sure you would look that way but would you also start heading away from the base your guarding, sure if you such a dumb-blam!- that you dont deserve the game but those people dont play the game. So i think it is more of an advantage but it still is a little bit of a disadvantage

Increased awareness of the enemies location is always advantageous.

Dude, I don't know what you're talking about, I'm always going to be blasting the horn when I'm driving the hog. Blasting the horn and blasting some polka music, oh yea! Chick magnet.

If you don't have surround sound in the first place and you hear a horn you won't know whitch way to look anyway.
