Subject: Search feature doesn't work

"I pledge to punch all switches, to never shoot where I could use grenades, to admit the existence of no level except Total Carnage, to never use caps lock as my "run" key, and to never, ever, leave a single BoB alive."

Bug Resolved as External: PEBKAC*

(*: Problem exists between keyboard and chair - the search feature itself works fine).

There's still repeat threads poping up all over the place. Cant the mods like look at every thread and make sticky on it and post it in a thread?

Oh, oh, does this mean that we can use RTFM as a reply too?

No ruling on the idea of routing new topics past a search dialog before they can create a thread?

I see that I am not the only one who has sat that the north bound end of a south bound tech call eh?

Without reading any posts, or looking for the shiny text of a Bungie Emplyee, it hasn't been working for me either.

Of course I mean literally. As in, it just doesn't search when I type something in.

Could be just me, but it's been like that for a while.

Edit: Yay...it workzorrz!

Well I thought my idea it would be a good idea to use in all the forums cause it seem to have been working and still is in the H3 forum. When GJJ created all those stickies in the H3 forum I saw that alot of those sticky threads are actually staying on the first page when they get lost in the back. Also like with all the moderator posts about post these ideas here and these here they have a more of a certain chance of staying on the front page cause they're stickied.

BTW

What? It is fine! It just gives me peoples posts in the thread I am trying to find but it is still in the thread...and as for anything else like "News", ...has it been a problem?

The news and the voting both like I said are fine cause they are mostly used by "the highness himself" Frankie so there fine.

I think Recon's idea could help a bit. Maybe if it didn't automatically go to the search feature, maybe you could at least make it search for keywords in the post title or body. Prominent words like glitch, superbounce, montage, cheat, etc., could lead to an automatic search for said word/s and list the results in descending relevance with a point system like the search feature already does.

There would have to be a dialog box that would show up with the search that states something like "We suggest that you check the results for matched keywords found in your post. There may be one or more threads already for what you are wanting to discuss. You can still create a new post if this search did not help."

I know it could still be bypassed easily and abused, but it could help new uninformed members in finding their relevant topic and save ninjas time in cutting down on posts that only grow to 4-5 posts long before they get locked and start with something like, "I don't know if this has been discussed before but..." I have been guilty of that before.

Please note this idea is different than Recon's. I don't even know if it would be possible with the Bnet system but it could be an alternative idea.

I like that idea. Unless they were trying to be jerks, that would stop an emotional member from becoming an irrational wacko. It still wouldn't stop some of the repeat threads though, and that seems to be the thread starter's intent.
