okay so i have a 360 controller hooked up to my pc to play halo and i set all the buttons to my preferences. when i play campaign it runs pretty smooth, but when i play online im moving without pushing anything. ill be walking forwards and ill be moving forwards but all of a suddent ill be ten paces behind where i started. some of the buttons like relod dont respond quickly. and im always jumpin everywhere and when i shoot or throw a grenade ill end ujp killin myself. when i ask guys online if they could help me they either ignore me or tell me to shut up. il ask if they are laggin but they say no. if anyone could help me that would be great.
thanks

it's most likely lag, check your ping, I don't know the setting for controllers, but it's the button for checking the score, most likely "back" maybe, whatever you put for F1.

If you have high ping (300+) then it's your connection not your controller.

if not, check your computer setings

It's not lag; it is rather, the fact that Halo PC's controls aren't calibrated to use analog input. In laymans terms, it's that the game can't sense if you want to tip-toe or if you want to run, so any movement at all is interpreted as holding down 'W' on your keyboard...and thus, running.

I have a quick question how do you message someone on here without them posting in the forum???

You really don't know, GAD? Well since you type better than most people here at the Bungie forums, I'll tell you. :) It's quite easy and obvious. If you wanted to send me a message there is a little box that says "msg user" on the bottom right corner of my post, along with everybody else's posts. It's quite straight forward after that.

Oh, and about the controller, darthbob is correct. Halo PC wasn't made for gamepad controls, it was made for a mouse and keyboard. Since there is no walk function, you cannot walk slowly in the game. And it probably is lag, mostly.

I have the same problem...I'm gradually getting used to it, but I more often than not will hit B to melee with no response, X to reload with no response, etc. I am just chalking it up to craziness in programming....it's not a ping issue, as I stick to games where I hover at 50 or below if at all possible. Glad to see I'm not the only one though!

Are you people now having any deadzone issues at all with the 360 controller? I do, he turns slighty all the time, can't get rid of it, even though I completed the game without the issue, just recently got it when I wanted to play online.

Why would you having a different opinion offend anyone?

You've obviously not been using the Internet for very long, or at least it's message boards.

ffs...just use a friggin keyboard+mouse config and don't waste your time with controllers on a FPS...what's wrong with your kind?

One, calibrate it. Two get used to it. Three it gets stuck sometimes so dont push so hard. Since im like the only one here who loves and is used to it, my words have spoken.
