I mean, Halo 2 for the console, look at it, the xbl community is a mess, hackers, modders, and standbyers everywhere, but if we wanna completely authenticate ourselves (damn imposters), ranks might be needed, because, people with large attention spans, can easily copy the name, and copy the emblem, so cast yer vote!

Hooray! Another poll question that I've never seen before!

/sarcasm :)

Hope so. Ranks FTW!

lol

Ranks are great, but they should be more prettier.

Kim! Why aren't you on XBL anymore? I keep coming on hoping to pwn your butt.

FTLGDMFT, modding is expanding or altering game content to make it fun. Cheating/hacking is expanding or altering game content to gain an unfair advantage over others. Get your terms right.

Also, IWSC, I'm on Xbox Live very often, so the question is why aren't you online? I played with Armageddon yesterday night in fact.

Frankly, I don't believe ranks are a good idea. I'm all for clan support and things of the like but from the moment you get ranks, people get extremely annoying.

We all know that on-line players are already idiotic enough whether they win ("because you're all idiots") or lose ("because you're even more of an idiot") but if you get ranks then people will start killing all the fun because they'll start whining about how they lost because of someone else's fault (especially in team games).

" *that guy* in our team is a ******* idiot, can't guard a thing, you *****!" and things like that.

Not to mention that there certainly will be betrayers that will create second accounts where they can just ruin their own stats along with those of others for "fun".

Well, I don't know who would do that on XBL, as one account costs like $80 a year. Seems like a waste of money to me.... However, on PC, internet play is free, so I can see that being a problem. How bout you can pay to be tracked? Or, instead of individual tracking, you can track clans with >5 people in them. That way, the stupid noobs actually have to form an organized army in order to overrun our society.

Welcome to my signature, apparently I can't respond right now so please don't leave me a message, because I will not get back back to you after the beep.

Dont really care if there is, or is not any ranks in H2V, but it is not like we have a choice wether it is in or not

there should be ranks, but no modders who cheat, because they're horrible.

Actually it wouldnt give them an unfair advantage because on matchmaking theyd be in way over their head

IF ranks comeine, I want them displayed at a different website. I don't want to join a game and have everyone complain at one guy becuase he has a low level....

I dont' think so because people will only care about rankings and boost and cheat and stuff just to win.

ranks= hell no
Medals=-blam!- yes

i would agree with ranking or levels if there was an overall level and not one for each individdual gametype.

maybe there could be like Military ranks like you get X amout of kills and it gives you X amout of XP towards your next level.

yay for MMOFPSRPGS!

hell yes keep the medals, maybe a new one if you shut-out the enemy on CTF or certain gametypes.

instead of ranks why don't we just have a stat-tracker that records things like kills, deaths ect....

Wait a minute you got something there. The intent of ranks and matchmaking was so players of similar skill could be matched together so the games would be closer and more fun. Blowouts aren't fun for either side, its the challenge of a close game that leaves you satisfied at the end even if you lost. The problem with Xbox live was that they displayed those ranks. Younger players are generally more concerned with finishing/winning then with a fair challenge. Hence the proliferation of cheating to gain a "rank" that was intended to match players of similar skill.

If you tracks the stats and use them in matchmaking but do NOT EVER display that rank anywhere you may solve the problem people cheating to gain rank because there is no "rank".

That was my original question to bungie. If the ranks were simply for matchmaking (as they still claim) then why were they shown? Why are they still being shown?

We all know that many kids would kick up if the ranks were made invisable, but bungie still insist ranks are not important. They dont want to get rid because it would cause a backlash.

Im very much against ranks, because of the desperation it caused many to go to simply to get a level up.

So, no ranks for me please, and if they are added please make it optional.

I believe that ranking will just cause an even worse gaming experience than it’s worth for. For instance, I've know of people who would feel so nervous about hurting their stats that they would never play a game on-line or would just feel so nervous that every single game was like a world tournament for them. And on the other hand, you have those players that play hours and hours on end just because they don't want to "fall behind" to those super-geeks that don't have a life outside Halo.

I know that just a small fraction of the players are this perfectionist, and we owe nothing to people who can't play a game just for the fun of it, but I believe that if we can avoid the creation of this kind of players then our own gaming experience will be enhanced by the fact we won't bump into this guys while playing. There are already enough annoying people without the pressure of ranking.

The Halo Anti-hack stats was severly flawed it gave you a flag capture point for every flag you hit in race. It said I had God-like skill level which made me laugh.

Speaking of Halo Anti-hack the site has been down for some time. Has anyone heard of any news regarding its future, or where it moved to?

The trouble is with a free system again is that there is no incentive to not cheat if it's not linked to something that costs money. Microsoft net passports are free, so you could make hundreds if you really want to spam the servers with TKing or other stuff.

Possibly if you could run the account off your cd-key? But then you'd only get one profile... Hmmmm... Permabans could become a reality.
