Cronin's Law----The New Flood Drinking Game

I never got what was so great about them anyways... there are no good shooters for the consoles besides halo and goldeneye (and soon halo 2), there are no RTS, and probbrabbly never will be. the precision and speed offered by the controller is marginal when compared to that of mouse+keyboard, and more difficult overall. also, the graphical power of consoles is far far inferior to that of a PC, and most games are locked at 30FPS (choppy... a good PC will run games at 60-80 FPS). Additionally, the overall quality of any console is less than that of a PC. Now, I realize that a console will better tailor to the needs of a 'casual gamer' who is either too stupid or too lazy to get a high-end gaming rig, but I have seen many console users who claim to be "1337 |-|4/"|)c0/"3" (most 13-16), but have never even heard of such pillars such as starcraft, doom, wolfenstein, quake, etc. this alarms me greatly. are there no new PC gamers out there anymore? Is my generation doomed to be the last while suceeding generations will degenrate into hopeless console morons? this is unacceptable.

why the hell am I posting this here? most of you are 13-yr old console morons anyway. oh well. if you are, damn you. consoles are okay, but only as a supplement too the PC. If you arent... good job. you inspire confidence.

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

Consoles are important. They enable people who don't have a fast computer a second option. But I do agree that more hardcore gamers use PCs more than consoles.

Exactly. I own an Xbox as I cannot afford a high spec. PC, due to the fact that I am a poor student. A console allows me to play a lot of new games, at relatively low expenditure compared to buying/building a PC.
Although, all the games I want to play are games that are, or will be, games that will appear on te PC (such as Halo, KOTOR, the GTA series, the Deus Ex series, etc...). And having owned one PC or another for over 10 years or so now I do firmly believe that a PC is the best platform for the running of the best new games. The keyboard/mouse offers the best control system for almost all games, with the exeption of flight sims and beat 'em ups. And then you can easily buy a USB gamepad.
The only thing a console has over a PC is the multiplayer aspect...WAY easier to have a multiplayer battle on a console than on a PC (I'm talking offline here, of course).

Not trying to be an ass, but honestly how many people do you really know of that haven't heard of those games? You have named PC games yes, but possibly some of the most well known ones of their time, and I find it hard to believe 'many' people have never heard of them as they all ran just fine on most computers, and better on a high end machine...I remember playing Quake on my Pentium 100 with no upgrades done to it at all.

Consols also have better portability than a PC.

Personal P. I like controllers. You don't have to install, can't really sit on a couch and play PC. They don't freeze up. Cheaper, faster, Xbox 2 will be exactly twice as powerful as xbox and that will absolutely blow away any cpu game imaginable. Bigger screen. Need I say more?

I will have to disagree about the controls. The only advantage a PC has over a console controller is the sensitivity.

Well, my problem with PCs compared to game consles is for one, very few games on pc have coop, plus no multiplayer not on the net unless you have two or more computers and on top of that 2 or more of the same game. Plus the pc gets laggy at points where the Xbox (Or any other system) wouldn't. Plus the games ALWAYS work on the system, on pc sometimes you don't have the right video card or something that costs as much as an Xbox = more then a GameCube. Overall if you have a great pc and no other people to play with you (Otherwise you better have a lot of good pcs) pc is the way to go. If you don't have any of the above then game system. Plus game systems have only for this system games like Halo2, PGR2, Mechassault (though I don't like that game) and so on.

Did they not use PCs to program the arcade games of our parent's past? They did indeed...

Without the invention of a typewriter we wouldn't have a keyboard. Without the invention of records we wouldm't have cds. Without the invention fountain we wouldn't have ball-point. Withought the discovery of rubbing wood together we wouldn't have lighters. Withought the wright bros plane we wouldn't have jumbojets.

Which ones are better Prophet?

I love my xbox a lot, i would make love with it and give birth to its children if it wanted.

But, i lovve pc's better, i am starting to build one now. I have the case and motherboard. But i am lucky cuz my dads freind is selling us the parts, and he gets great deals from his freinf who works for a pc store. Long story short, i would make even sweeter love to a gaming pc then i would to my xbox.

Well, although PC's do have better graphics and other advantages there are some unconvenient things involved. With PC's you have to buy upgrades for the game to work like video cards. Not to mention price, that's what will really kill the PC.With a console you buy 1 system with a few controllers and that's it.No new cards or what not, just the system and the games.

Devon, I'd much rather sit on a comfy, leather couch while playing infront of a big screen tv than sit on an office chair 2 feet from the 20 inch moniter so I can notice. Xbox comes close to cpu graffics but like I said, X2 will blow every cpu game out of the water and the rest of the ocean for that matter. If controllers suck, why do designers spend months designing the perfect controller for and enjoyable and fun gaming experience? Keyboards are designed to type, controllers to game. Need I say more?

I consider the abilitie to upgrade your pc a advantage.

And you have to deal with the fact that mouses and keyboards are better for gaming. It may not seem to make sense but it is true.

PC's require game developers to tailor their games to six different graphics cards, thirty different levels of processor power, between 128 and 640 megs of memory...

Consoles have one flat system spec configuration. One.

Console games are, and always will be, better than PC games, because developers know what they're working with. I was never more pissed off in my life than when I spent three hours installing Knights of the Old Republic, only to find my computer's graphics card was too weak to play it. When the X-Box version just popped in and played, it was like eating marijuana ice cream.

Yes, I'm sure M is better than H2. Of course, that's why all of these forums are aboot HALO. Right, thanks, I'm not confused anymore.

That's simply not true -- dollar for dollar - consoles generally have WAY better graphics than similarly powered PC's.
