No, not really. Nothing is free.

The best things in life are free (M1A1, PC online MP, and classic rock on the radio...)

Hmpf.

Screw the PC and consoles. They are both over hyped by the industries that make them. Table top paper and dice games are where its at. You know, the classics: Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: the Gathering, and Warhammer.

You know why?

They're a billion frames per second, The controls are awsome, they don't require upgrades for new material, and they have the best graphics card of all: Your imagination. The real hardcore gamers play table top games. You know the the types that I'm talking about. People that have been have been playing for upwards of 30 years, and go to GenCon and DragonCon.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a fanboy when it comes to that. Nothing compares the table top.

As far as PC/MAC vs. Xbox/PS2/GameCube... Well, I'm not a fanboy in any direction. I think each has advantages and disadvatages, but I would happily game on all five if I had the money.

mmmmm... Pen-and-Paper...
I would play but the only ppl I know who play them are jerks who reject me constantly... on one attempt I asked if I could play with them and they were like "no you suck... blah blah blah" oh well. but seriously thats fun stuff. well not magic. but D&D is great.

So true... Xbox live has a few nice features like the voice communitcator standard, but online MP for PC is FREE! and most of the extras you get from live can be obtained for the PC easily and for the most part FREE! and FREE is always good!

No it's not FREE. You have to pay for your net provider. Also you forgot one thing about Live, EVERYONE has a high-speed net. So you don't have to worry about same dial person (Which I used to be) coming in and screwing your game with tons of lag.

Actually i do think PCs are better. Especially just the online multiplayer and the different things you can do. Download mods, mod the game yourself and download demos. You cant do everything that you can do on the PC on the xbox.
And dont say bad things about modding. Thats how Counter strike was created

Ya I like that too. Like for Star Wars Jedi Acadamy I have a Covenant Elite skin (One of my favs!). If I had the money to buy two pcs with the best memory then I'd like those vastly more the consles. But I'm not rich so I go with consels.

Ah but for Xbox live you still have to pay net provider, and then the extra monthly fee for Live. and besides, Net fee doesnt count, as that is an essential like water/electricity/sewage/trash... without internet, I would die.

LIVE! is only $50.00 a year, and that's supposed to go down when the Xbox 2 comes out. It really isn't that much. You could spend more in a year on EverQuest and Final Fantasy XI.

I never got what was so great about them anyways... there are no good shooters for the consoles besides halo and goldeneye (and soon halo 2), there are no RTS, and probbrabbly never will be. the precision and speed offered by the controller is marginal when compared to that of mouse+keyboard, and more difficult overall. also, the graphical power of consoles is far far inferior to that of a PC, and most games are locked at 30FPS (choppy... a good PC will run games at 60-80 FPS). Additionally, the overall quality of any console is less than that of a PC. Now, I realize that a console will better tailor to the needs of a 'casual gamer' who is either too stupid or too lazy to get a high-end gaming rig, but I have seen many console users who claim to be "1337 |-|4/"|)c0/"3" (most 13-16), but have never even heard of such pillars such as starcraft, doom, wolfenstein, quake, etc. this alarms me greatly. are there no new PC gamers out there anymore? Is my generation doomed to be the last while suceeding generations will degenrate into hopeless console morons? this is unacceptable.

why the hell am I posting this here? most of you are 13-yr old console morons anyway. oh well. if you are, damn you. consoles are okay, but only as a supplement too the PC. If you arent... good job. you inspire confidence.

Didnt a red alert or command and conquer game come out way back when on a console? I believe it was N64 it came out on. And just for your info, I'm 17, not part of your stereotypical "13-yr old console morons."

Oh, btw, I'm a PC gamer. I'm just open to every other type of game (but I'm more inclined to PC gaming.)

Yup I was right. There was a command and conquer for N64. Lazy There was also Army men for N64. They considered that as an RTS.

Ah yes! army men... I remember it well!... not quite sure how they get RTS out it though. possibly RTT but even that's a stretch. oh well.

Its not that I'm not open to other systems, its just that I personally do not beleive that they are worthy of the massive push developers are making for them. the PC is, in my opinion, superior in virtually every aspect as long as you have the cash to continue upgading (every 2 years is a good policy... it keeps you current, and saving for 2 years gives you enough cash to go top-of-the-line every time... very nice)

I disagree. Why is a PC soooo much better than paper and dice/pen and paper games? Paper games cost less, and you don't have to worry about constantly upgrading. Hell, I know some guys that haven't spent money on D&D since 2nd Edition. That version of D&D was released close to 20 years ago. They still play, and they still do new things in the game every time they play. Compared to that, what does a PC have?

Wrong, I just thought of another thing that consles are better at. Which do you think would be easier to take to your friend's house a PC, or a consle? But that's why you should have both a pc and game consle. Don't get me wrong I love my pc but I just like consles a little better since I can't affored upgrading every 2 yrs. When it comes to controles I like both the same. Both are easy for me to adapt to. Actually pc is easier in that since you can make an button do whatever you want, instead of having to do it only this way or that. That's the one thing that took me a while to get used to when I got an Xbox, always having to use the annolag. I was used to the directional pad on PS1. Anyway both are really good for games.

ohhhh yah... I forgot about portability... yah consoles definitely own them in that respect. uless you have a laptop. but really who games on laptops? I mean you get slowdown on solitaire for crying out -blam!-!

to the D&D Dude...
read my previous response genius. Im talking about electronic video game platforms. Im sorry, but you just cant say D&D is an electronic Video game platform. it owns, but a console it is not.

Actually I was talking about how consoles are overhyped and are in fact inferior to PC, but dont get all defensive. its just that you can't really compare Pen and paper to PC/Xbox or any other console for that matter, because pen-and-paper isnt really a "console" in the sense we are talking about.

I kinda agree, but most PC games run great on Xbox and some look better. It will always be easier to aim with a mouse, but using a keyboard sux and gets really annoying even if you can set up your keyboard anyway you want. The only game that came to Xbox that didn't impress me was Counter Strike which after 5 years should have had some kind of improvements in graphics and never should have cost $49.99!

Personelly i'd rather play games on a console then PC,but still buy the big PC titles like Doom 3,Far Cry,Call of Duty,Halo and soon Halflife 2!

You can also use DeusEx 2 as an example of an overated PC game that looks just as a bad on PC as it does on Xbox! It's up to the developers to utilize the hardware not the other way around.
