If you have read the flood, you will know that the monitor says that MC only has class 2 armor and he recommends that he gets class 12, thats 6 times more powerful. Can you imagine what that would be like ?? You could take a rocket to the head or even a tank blast. Do you think that MC 's new armor in H2 is class 12???

I would like to confirm that, but I don't know.

  • 05.21.2004 5:57 PM PDT

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

You have Mark VI armor, so I guess it's a class 6. In Halo you had Mark V, and it was a class 5 so I guess they correspond.
-EDIT-
gnomefriend you are wrong, it's Mark V, Mark IV is from the Marathon series, and the guy in my avatar is wearing it.

I don't think that Bungie actually said anything about it, but even in the screenshots it looks like everybody's flying like 10 feet higher than in the original Halo. Like in that weird demonstration video right before the target tracking thing. The elite drives the warthog towards him and he jumps up in the air. Seems like he goes way higher, but whatever.

But does that mean that marines at least get class 2?? I know what your going to say " Marines cant handle the awesome power of MJOLNIR and their bodies would be all twisted and mutilated from the agility and strength" But they could have the chemical augmentation to enhance their bodies.
Or why dont they make more spartans for H2 coz they were such a success, or , at least one of them was, i know all of the ODST's and Marines dont like the spartan program but look what happened to them, they all died. Or did sergeant Johnson survive??

Night potato where did you get your name, oh no thats a bit too offensive sorry cledus, I hate to be the one to bring it up but HALO IS ONLY A GAME IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH REAL LIFE, and anyway who cares about cost if your spending it on something that will help the person whos going to save Earth kick the covies butt. Even if the covenant are glassing Earth, MC would survive or BANG!!! no story, after that attack they could make more spartans think before you post.

No if you read First Strike then you read that spartan got a new liear accelerater which doubled it's strength. Most likley just a 3 or 2 1/2.

yes. were ALL here! sow shaddup before u get us stickied. adn to respond to the other guy (forgot name) i dont think they would have the rescources to make a suit of armor. i realise that in a time of armegedon, money is not an issue, but rescources, still are. plus, alot of the factories/ rescource facilities/ scientists are now piles of ash.

Sorry, now i get where your coming from. But i dont think Earth is the only place where you can get resources to make the suit coz in Fall of Reach they got their suit from some place called damascus?

Hate to say it, but your all wrong. The Moniter is mistaking MC for the "Reclaimer" and...bah it's a long story go to HBO to find out more.

Anyway, he's just saying that in Forerunner standards, MC's armor was a lv 2.

The human name for MC's armor is Mark IV. In the coming Halo 2, there armor is the new Mark V

The Mark V (five) MJOLNIR is rated as a class 2 by the Monitor. So far the only visible improvements are a higher jump and a slightly tweaked HUD (I wouldn't call that an improvement, though). I doubt that's enough to get it over a class 2 rating, because if it is the Forerunner are nowhere near as powerful as everyone assumes they are.

So the Mark V and Mark VI are both class 2 "combat skins" as the Monitor calls them.

By the way, has anyone ever looked for a significance in the name of the armor? MJOLNIR - weapon of Thor, king of the Norse gods. Maybe this is proof that the shields are derived from Forerunner technology?

pg. 134, First Strike :

"Within the plastic boxes marked MJOLNIR MARK V followed by a long list of serial numbers."

Mark V is the new armor...

Actually the Mark V is Mark five, also known as the Halo 1 suit.

You are mistaken. And the Mark IV is decribed as a boxy, cumbersome mech with dual miniguns in the Fall of Reach. How many times must it be repeated; Halo is set in a different universe than Marathon!

The monitor standards of armor measurment and our standards do not match. It's like metric to american, people. two totally different ways to measure the same thing. Mark 4 equals level two.

Or did sergeant Johnson survive??

someone mentioned something about the marines getting new armor. Well, they do. I dont remember all the details to be confident enough to say it is a fact, but i believe that the armour is basically a sheild much like master chiefs, with little to no physical augmentations.

also, someone said the story doesnt have to make sense because it is a game. I bet your a big vin deisal fan, arent you? dont like plots, just fast cars, women, and explosions. go watch 3 ninjas, High Noon at Mega Mountain. Just kidding. if you want to see how important and good a plot can be in a video game, get the pc version of Deus Ex. the original can be found brand new for about 10 bucks with a froogle search. That game is a masterpiece, and the plot is what makes it so special. O, and there is plenty of shotguns, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers to keep you interested.

Video games make more money a year than movies. That means we have passed the point in time where a soldier in space is being attacked by demons from hell is all the plot you need. Vidoe game players as a whole want more than a bland, cliched background to play, they want stories in their games. to that end, bungie is better than almost all gaming companies out there. Their stories make sense, even down to the most -blam!- details. to the truely hardcore and observant, everything in the story blends together. Go check out HBO and see what i mean.
