how many maps do you have in your maps folder though? do you just have those 6 and the default, or do you have half of the avalible maps all over the web in there? I just started to use the map manager *even though I dled it about a year ago* and my ce's start-up time dropped down to just a few seconds, compared to the 1 min+ it used to.

i assume i have the default, just what you get with the game. i havent done or added anything to the folders. all i do is click on host game. ive only had the game for about 3 months so i dont know much about it. ive been on a few servers and enjoyed playing the ctf mod but i was fussy about the settings so i decided to host from my pc instead lol.

Um, stupid questions, what's your RAM and what's your HD space? If both are fairly good (512MB/more than 10GB) then check your pagefile size. I use a pf of 1gig.

Formatting a HD often is not really a good idea. Go buy a bigger HD if your one keeps filling up.
To increase PF, click this link and follow the instructions. Yay imageshack!
