Bungie receives a high volume of emails on the subject of jobs. More than anything, people want to know how to get a job at Bungie. Take a look at Bungie's shady hiring practices and see if you're up to leaving behind the concept of "HR violations."

Stosh <3's me vicariously... at least someone does...

If I did any job I would want to work on physics engines. Of course, that probably wouldn't be with bungie...

Great article, and some good insight on to what it takes to get a job in one of, if not the coolest Game Studios.

BTW: Did Frankie really eat a live potato bug?

Edit: Texture artist/shader artist FTW.

Does the fact that Bungie is hiring new annoymous faces entail that Halo 3 wont suck as bad as Halo 2?

Frank O'Connor is a 12-year veteran of the videogame magazine industry and has therefore never worked an honest day in his life.

Glad to be back KP. anyways how did you get into bungie so easily. I imagine Frankie got to beat you up or something. Cause i know Frankie got in pretty easy. i mean he had the second best job in the world (he wrote articles for OXM which entailed working 1 day a week and playing games 4 days a week) And then did an interview with Bungie for OXM and 2 weeks later he was PR at the best place to work.

This makes me want halo 3 more because it looks like Bungie hires only the best and with 45 of the best people that worked on the awesome halo 2 and another 45 of the best people that i have no clue what they did before this working on halo 3 thats 90 people that have awesome talent. So yea i am excited.

I plan on going into servers and such but doubt Bungie would need someone like that. Tom does a good job of maintaining the website and servers at bungie. maybe MS will hire me.

wheee

You know... Just ignoring letters and letting them fall into the Abyss is not the way to keep someone intrested in working for you

Actualy anwsering them, even with a "Rejection" Would be better then anything

I have been waiting for 3 months now to hear Yay or neigh and its driving me bonkers.

Oh yeah and an Edit.... I DID get the Remote Mailer 10 message... so I know it got in... I just haven't gotten a human responce.

Um...no "first post" posts please....it's not a big deal and you can get the banhammer for it.

Anyways, I really appreciate this update because it has answered a few of my questions about the game industry. I am attending at an art cool called SCAD and I intend to major in animation. I have always dreamed about being a game designer but I dont have much experience with computers or C++ for that matter...so I'm not sure if I would be able to pursue Game design as a major(or a minor)..sadly. I know that as an animation major I will be utilizing MAYA however..and I wonder if that offers me some hope working in the game industry.( u mentioned that program correct?) I guess something like C++ is intimidating for me, but If I need it I will find a way to learn it! Would someone like me have a place on a game design team?

Slamming man-parts in a refrigerator door is not taught at any college that I know.

Sheridan College does have some of those courses. But there are some tests you must take first. (You really don't want to know)

In other words. We get really bored here in Wyoming.

Man, my timing is horible. I could definately swing that Asociate Producer job. Too bad I still have three years of college ahead of me. Let's hope there will still be a production position available in 2010.

My grandmother helps kids get into good colleges. She's even helped kings and queens! She's going to help me find a good college so I can work for (possibly) Bungie.

Just remember...

I'm coming for you...

Great article. Definatley a bookmark for the future!

So what kind of things would peek interest at Bungie Studios for say someone whom plans to program?

I am looking foward to trying to enter the Industry and I figure if I can try and abide by your standards that I might find an entry level job easier, or at least a bit quicker. I read where Frankie said doing extra content, but what things outside of your field of work? I am not very good, lets take that back...I am completely horrible with drawing and/or art work. But I would love to learn some of the design and concepts. Is this something valued in the industry?

Thank for this update. I've been looking into game design as a career choice for quite some time, and Bungie has been my goal. Of course, there's quite a few years to go before I could be thinking about a permanent job. One question though. Do you use only C++ or C# as well?

I think it would be a wise and very important investment to learn multiple languages. Different languages have different benefits and have different ways of accomplishing something. One language could offer security and portability with writing your program. On the other hand you can do the task in another language which isn't as secure or portable...but it gets the job done a wee bit faster. Either way your looking at putting in about the same amount of effort if you're good with the languages, to accomplish the task in either language.

I know that Bungie Studios is a seperate part of Microsoft, but they were bought by Microsoft. Does that mean that Bungie Studios is in the same buildings/offices as the Microsoft offices? I'm just curious.
