For me nothing much since I know better then to give out passwords or respond to phishing emails. But I did hide my email address on my profile.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I doubt anything different will be implemented. There are no security risks if everyone is cautious like you.

You think it got what it takes to be..?.

God forbid you send me one of those I was checking for cool gamers and saw you messages too, I will scream to the top of my lungs and smash this damn screen/BlackBerry to pieces! You've been warned -_-

Keep it like that. These hackers will not quit for $1M.

Technically they aren't hacking...seeing as they didn't try and force themselves through Bungie's security to get information. They just tried to play off of other peoples stupidity.

Frankie posted this warning:

It has been brought to our attention that someone is sending fake emails form "bungie.com" (we're actually Bungie.net and we never email you about your account details or security.) and we have to assume the sender of the mails, often with a zip file attachment, is up to no good. Simply delete and ignore them and never, ever open a file from a sender you don't know or trust.

The content of the email may look like this:

Dear user frankie,

It has come to our attention that your Bungie User Profile ( x ) records are out of date. For further details see the attached document.

Thank you for using Bungie!

The Bungie Support Team

Again, these mails are not from us, they're from some jackass. Ignore them.

I use a Phishing filter, works like a charm. You can download one off of Microsoft.com.

I also found the download for it on Microsoft.com.

Nope. In all honesty, it's not worth it. I protect my email account, I protect my financial information. If someone is smart enough and devoted enough to snag my Bungie.net login password, well, I suppose they've earned it.

This forum engine they are using, IdealBB, is extremely secure. I am working on a site with some others who are using this same one, and it is very thorough in protecting against hackers and the like.

Dont worry, bungie has its methods.

IE 7 has a phishing filter, and my password for my Live ID is pretty difficult to crack.

Meh, for passwords i always feel anything out in the open is harder to see. Which is why i picked one of the most common things ever used to be my password, well, at least a version of one of the most common things.

(10:19:49 PM) Scruss: oh and pezza, i saw what you did to that cat
(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

Strange that there is just a sudden spike in people trying to get other's accounts. Who would want to screw us over so bad?

I don't change my password often. At Achronos' suggestion, I stopped using the save password thing for the passport system, although it's annoying having to log in every time I want to post. No doubt I'll accidentally set it back and forget about it.

For someone with bad virus protection, I'm not very cautious. Eh?

you can also use different words from different languages into your pass, that greatly boosts your security as well

They just tried to play off of other peoples stupidity.

I was thinking that as I read the article on the front page. There's no security risk, just stupid people being taken advantage of.

Or just slap your keyboard randomly and throw in a few more weird symbols and number, cap some letters, and there you have it!

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

I've been getting this message around B.net for awhile.

Although this page is encrypted, the information you have entered is to be sent over an unencrypted connection and could be easily read by a third party.

Are you sure you want to continue sending this information?

Then it asks for me to either continue or cancel. If I click continue it automatically takes me to B.net's main page, with the top url changed to:http://www.bungie.net/Default.aspx?wa=wsignin1.0

My question is this, should I be concerned?

There is no new security risk. It has always been the case that if you give out your password, you will lose control of your account.

Sounds like you're using an open Wi-Fi network. I know I am and I get the same message, but when I go home to my encrypted network, I never get it.

Nice pun Ultimate Geek ;)

Also, if you want a secure password storage device that also generates passwords...check this thing out: HERE

Bad thing is that the reason why it is 270 bucks is there are 5 of the little boogers that come with 1 kit. So if you get 5 of your friends to pitch in, you each spend about 50 - 60 dollars on one. Neat device though...

I'd be worried if I were a Mod. and someone was trying to hack my account

Yes, I would be worried for them too. Secondly, no one has hacked or tried to hack anything. They just tried to get people to give them information by convincing them that they were from Bungie. That isn't hacking.

I am now much more cautious with security. It is sad that some people take video game forums too seriously.

Why do people use the term hacking? it just makes the people doing it feel skilled and cool.
