I just wanted to know when uses the pistol how do u get those 1 hit head shots? Is there a certain place I need to have the crosshair on the head? Please help me since I am really tired of 1 hit kills by many players.

one hit kills only work with the sniper, unless you play without shields, which is just stupid.
as for where you have to aim, that's easy: aim for the head, and use the zoom. there is another thing you have to do, but i'll be -blamed- if anyone tells you what it is; we have enough pistol hores, we don't need any more.

EDIT: im sorry for beaing rash, but it's true.
also, some weapons are much better than the pistol. i have found out what most 'pros' do, but it's still damn hard to aim at the head of someone who's jumping around in random directions. it's just more convient to deliver 2 snipe shots to the torso, but it all depends on the player. it's impossible to just pick up a gun, and use it as well as someone who knows how to use it

Pistol is easily the best overall (most versatile). The pistol is your friend. You almost always want to carry the pistol as one of your guns. BTW, you can't get 1 shot kills if you have full health and shields. It takes 2 shots to take out the shields, and either 1 headshot or 3 body shots after that to kill. If you think you were killed in 1 hit, chances are it was either lag, the sniper rifle, or multiple people shooting you at once.

The trick to the pistol is leading. I'm assuming you're playing HaloPC (not CE). Try to join servers with a ping of less than 100 (preferably close to 33). The lead distance will be pretty constant once you get used to how that particular server feels. When you're learning how to pistol, aim a little ahead of them until you hear the hit beep. That little beep tells you that the server registered the hit. If you shoot right at the person (no leading) and see their shields flash but don't hear the beep, you missed. Learning the lead is the key.

Once you get experienced, you'll start memorizing different lead distances. I.e. with a 33 ping, if he's running sideways, I aim here. If it's a moving warthog, I aim there (lead more for faster targets). If he's running almost in a straight line, I don't lead much at all. Once you memorize the leading for these different situations, you won't have to waste ammo (and time) trying to find the lead. Just aim at the right spot and hit them.

Try to train yourself to always aim for the head. Like I said, the first 2 shots don't matter, since the shields take the same damage no matter which part of them you hit. But once their shields are gone, then it's crucial to aim for the head.

Another good weapon to learn is the sniper rifle. The leading is slightly different than the pistol since the bullets travel faster. But you'll get the hang of it with practice. Again, try to train yourself to get headshots. Usually you'll want to zoom 2x unless they're pretty far away. At point blank range just shoot without the scope or use a different gun. With enough practice you'll be able to snipe vehicle drivers in the head (very satisfying, especially when they say "WTF?"). If you want to practice, most of Gearbox's new maps have sniper roosts where you'll have plenty of ammo to waste (and usually a health pack or overshield nearby too).

With the sniper, a good thing to learn how to do is to put the reticle on them, and strafe back and forth to make yourself a hard target. While keeping your reticle more or less still, learn to time your shots as you strafe back and forth (as the reticle passes over them).

The most important thing to learn, though, is how to not die. The key here is map control. Always put yourself in a place where you'll have an advantage, rather than just duking it out face to face with someone where you're trying to kill them when you have 1 bar of health. Whore the power ups, maintain the uphill advantage, use the terrain to your advantage, be smart, never stand still. If you keep getting killed a lot, try to figure out something to do differently to keep that from happening. It varies from map to map, but I don't have time to explain it all here.

If you get the drop on someone, throw a grenade at their feet to soften them up, and hit them with your pistol right as the grenade goes off. They'll be respawning before they know what hit them. But usually in a straight up pistol fight, grenades aren't worth it unless you're sure you can hit them and you have enough health to survive an extra few seconds until you can shoot again. Grenades are also useful for herding people. If his shields are down and he's hiding behind a rock or something, toss a grenade to force him to either get blown up or run out in your line of fire so you can finish him off.

Just practice a lot, experiment with different strategies until you find something that works for you. Don't get stuck in a rut. Use your brain (I swear, the best players own by playing smart, not just being a good shot). I could write a lot more but I don't feel like it. Watch videos of good players and see what they do. If you want some helpful videos, head over to thegtc.com and grab "Basic Essentials" and "Advanced Essentials".

Lead is very important, even with very, very low pings. Remember that Halo uses a very complex/accurate physics model; all shots take time to travel their distance, and some shots are affected by gravity, the exceptions are: Assault Rifle, Plasma rifle, Rocket Launcher, sniper rifleand Warthog Machine gun. so with the pistol, the farther away a target is, the more lead you have to use, also aim slightly high.

You also have to lead more with sniper rifle, as its bullet travel is slower

Heyyo,

Err... pistol whores? I have yet to see many of em. I see a lot of n00bs with rockets n' fuel rods... but not much wtih pistols...

I myself love the pistol, and I agree with the whole leading thing, cause that's how it works. It's harder to kill with hinger pings, cause you have to give more leading time. I'm sure you can get it in time, I know I did. ;)

Also, you guys forgot to mention this important fact about the pistol, keep clicking the mouse, don't whold it down, this was an advantage given to the experienced players. If you hold down the mouse, the pistol's less accurate (by a heckova lot too...).

True, same also with the AR and the Plasma Rifle

Not true. The sniper bullets travel faster than any other gun in the game. If the leading seems different, it's because of Gearbox's lame netcode that constantly lags the game to hell. On Xbox (the way the game is supposed to behave without Gearbox's crap netcode), the sniper requires very little leading because the bullets travel so fast. Pistol is somewhat slower.

Regardless, practice leading until you can consistently hear the hit beep. Then start memorizing the distances so you will know where to shoot. :-)

Which version are you talking about Xbox or PC?
I don't know about the Xbox SR, but the one in the PC version has bullets that are slower than the pistol's and the AR's... I checked with a modding app. And you DO have to lead more with the SR than the Pistol or the AR; I use it all the time...

well... that's exactly what i didn't want to tell him.

now, anway time for me to stop acting like a noob hater, and time to start acting like myself

there are a few technical thing you can do to improve your accuracy. for example, you can increase your mouse sensitivity, so that you can point at someone's head easit if they are jumping and moving

now, while playing, clik the mouse, don't hold it. rate of fire decreases, but accuracy greatly increases.

try not to run just foward while shooting, instead, striaf left and right to prevent getting shot by another pistol user, or a sniper. though it's very tempting to not do this. same applies for sniper.

lastly, lead. it's irratating, so at first aim for the chest while you lead. when you get good at ehat, then try for the head.

the pistol is not a no0b weapon. it requires skill. so they only way you're gonna get good is PRACTICE

as sucky as this weapon is at long range fights the flame thrower will tear throw an enemys shield and health (no matter if he has an over shield or 400 health or even both) it will kill him soon before he even sees u in all the flames

Assuming he doesn't use his motion tracker... you have to be able to ambush someone with a flamethrower to be effective with it.
