Hello Bungie.net, I'm new to this site and I need help moving in. Please forgive me if this is the incorrect place to ask, but I just want to learn the basics to these forums. I'm a big, and dedicated fan of the Halo series and I'm over-joyed for Halo 2 PC and Halo 3 releases. My brother told me about Bungie.net and I got hooked instantly. I'm looking forward on being a regular on these forums. Thx for the help!

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I'd start with the stickies in all the forums. After that, learning to BBC tags is useful too. It seems that you already understand those so, welcome to the community.

Welcome.
A few words of advice:
* Avoid people who call themselves "Veterans of Bungie.net"
* Don't bump threads just to send them back up to the top.
* Try to keep flaming to a minimum.
* Read the stickies

Other than that, just be yourself and have fun!

Wow, thanks for the feedback, 3 posts within minutes, quite a zippy forum. Which is quite a good thing.

Ach! Was ist los?

Sometimes, sometimes.

Oh, and in case you don't know, posts with gold text are Bungie employees and posts with white text are moderators. Respect our authoritay, or we shall say "Ni!" to you.

And the most important piece of advice of all?

Don't panic!™

If that ever happens, just start saying "it" and run away. [/Monty Python]

There is linking your gamertag to bungie.net if you have one.
Just use your passport.net account thing at xbox.com and you'll be able to use your halo 2 emblem as your avartar.

And...
* You can't upload your own avatar like the moderators or emploees
* Only bungie emploees can post pictures
* Se7en is essential.

P.S. If this thread got stickied, it accually could help other new users get used to bungie.net.

You may also find the links in my signature to be of assistance. (mostly the one linking to the rules).

Above all, have fun, be yourself, and be excellent to each other.

and don't forget that those who have white writing are moderators. They prefer that yo don't think of them differently then a normal member. the only difference between them and a normal moderator is a wet noodle.

Also, Read the CoC and ToU before anythign else, then the Stickies in each forum, and finally the stuff in Recons rant.

You'll be fine after that and a respected member of the community, as long as the rules are followed.

Just remember, it' against the rules to not say a "Your mom" joke every once in awhile and if it isn't, it should be.

Building on Ferret's post, allow me to break down the different Forums, and what they're for:

*The Underground: Discuss anything that has to do with Bungie or their Oldskool games. Note: It's not a Halo board. But you can discuss things like the Halo novel, because it's Bungie's project.

*The Septagon: The Community forum. Use this place if you have an issue with the site, or if you want to interact with the Seven Column. You can learn a lot in here.

*Halo 3 Forum: Easy enough- Post your Halo 3 thoughts here. But make sure you don't post something that has been said recently (happens a lot.)

*New Mombasa: Talk about Halo 2 in here. That ranges from the basic Halo 2 plot analysis to debates on the mainstream and how it affects the XBL community.

*Optimatch: This Forum is for Playlists only. Nothing more, nothing less. Read the "Hot Topics" thread, as a lot of your potential questions can be found in there.

*Maw/Library: Pretty straightforward on their little descriptions.

*Gallery: Well it was supposed to be a place to have Caption Contests and whatnot, but it's essentially a dead Forum. Check it out if you wish.

*News: When a Front Page story is complete, you can discuss it with the Community in the News Forum.

*Voting Booth: Take place in Polls here.

*The Classifieds: All of your Advertisements go in here.

*The Flood: The off-topic Forum. Despite the title that says "Say your stupid stuff here," you aren't encouraged to spam and whatnot. The Flood is all about finding your own style and making new friends when you post. It's a chill atmosphere.

Some Pointers-
-Don't Flame.
-Don't Spam
-Don't be use -blam- (LoL)
-Have Fun!

Also, make sure you read these two articles, it's good for making sure you don't get tricked into giving out your password and such:

It would be extremely helpful if you read all of the rules of each of the forums you plan to be active in, generally they help with you not getting blacklisted by moderators.

And make sure you ignore the people that 't@1k li3k dis'.

Welcome, and without reading any posts I'll just post some obvious (well, once you've been here for awhile) stuff:

1. Read the stickies over every forum that you viset. Someone will explain I'm sure, if you don't know.
2. Go to The Flood. We're the best forum EVAR.

And stuff. I suck with rules. I never even read the Code of Conduct.

3. If you get blacklisted, let it teach you a lesson. It only took me eight times before I got it...basically, don't break the rules.
4. Read The Code of Conduct and Terms of Use.

Sure, set an example Piggy, don't read any of the above posts in order to prevent repeated information (a.k.a. useless posts).

There is this thing called group conquering and what people try to do is get group administrators' passwords in order to destroy their groups, they're crazy, if you ever come across a group conqueror never talk to them ever again because they are the biggest bunch of idiots to ever surf Bungie.net ever.

And then there's the usual phony-baloney, up-to-no-good buttheads that just try to ruin the experience for everyone.
