Well, I finally got everything set up and I can host games now. I have two things to ask:

1: Does anyone else have this problem?
We all know that the host of a game has zero lag which makes it soooo much easier. Now if I decide to host some games and people join I always own them because I'm host and then they quit. The only way people will stay is if I purposely ease up, which isn't much fun.

2: Is there anything I need to do to my ports when I'm done hosting games.
Like do I need to disable them or anything? I have heard if you don't close your ports or something there is a small possibility of a hacker. Is this true?

I don't think you're supposed to have 0 ping, I could be wrong though. So you forwarded your ports off one computer and are playing on a separate one, right?

He said nothing about a dedicated server, so logically he was referring to a non-dedicated server that he's hosting on his own, with zero ping.

The answer is yes and no. Tons of people have the same problem. And frankly, you can do nothing except go easy on the other players, which I agree isn't very fun. It's their fault if they suck at the game and decide to leave because you're just too good and they can't aim for crap. So I just sock it to them with a bullet to their head with my sniper rifle and watch them quit. And to answer your second question, no you don't, and anyways, you can't close a port, then nobody would be able to join. I think you're confusing port with firewall. Besides, unless you're browsing the internet or downloading a file in the background a virus could possibly slip through if you have a firewall down (or if you don't have one) but if you're smart, you wouldn't be downloading files while playing. Nobody can hack your PC over HPC, so don't worry about it.

Well, whenever I host a server (which is solely for admin purposes, not to get more advantages with 0 ping, because I have no second computer to host a dedicated server...), whenever people come in, about 95% of them, at about 99.99% of the time always stays, until I close the game down. I also meet many familiar faces, that have joined my server in the past, coming to my server again, because they recognize the same server title. I ask them why my server out of all the other good server, and they always respond saying that my server's pretty fun to play in. They also say they harldy see any dip in framerate, and they almost never lags in my server. It's probably my cable connection that's having a positive reaction towards their gameplay, and the reason why they have fun in my server, I don't really know the true reason for that, but I think it's because I give them what they want. All my map/gametype rotations seems to be their likings (and yes, mine too, lol). So if you want to host a server, and don't want people leaving, the best thing to do is get an awesome ISP, and give the crowd what they want. I guarantee you, you'll have hours of fun with people you don't even know, but are nice people. =) Just remember to ban the jerks. xD

So I don't have to do anything to my ports when I'm not playing?
