Ah, but halo doesnt update does it? Theres been many problems with it, most had to do a manual patch of 6 or 7, cant remember which. Add to that, theres actually only been a couple of patches, the rest have just been security fixes.
Why isnt it possible to browse custom content? Steam does it to an extent. And I have to say, I hated steam when it came out. it was rank. It smelled. But it has gotten better. A few examples:
Once you have bought and registered a game on it (via online or a dvd) you have that for life. Its on your account, and if anything happens to the CD/DVD (like it did mine) you can simply download it via steam. Very handy actually.
Your tied to that account. A few good reasons for this. First off, it helps piracy. True, there are ways round it, but its more difficult.
Also, being tied to that account makes you in big trouble if caught cheating. Having a few games on there makes having the whole account banned rather a big deterrent.
Reasons why it aint so good:
It doesnt wait for wireless connections, so it always complains about not being able to connect when i startup.
If everyone had things like steam, youd have loads of things starting up when you boot, or have to start them to play a game.
But I still like it though, its come in handy. I wouldnt be suprised if Anywhere live (or live anywhere? whats it called again?) does much the same thing. We know that halo2V is going to have live integrated, so we shall wait and see.
It would eliminate all the lost CD key topics for a start.
