Are you referring to this quote?
Here's the whole of it: Your ring of friends do not represent the entire community. The MLG does not represent the entire community. Just because you played Halo 1 one way doesn't mean everyone else did, and by no means is the way you played the "only" way to play.
While I agree that is a bit out of the blue (although for most it is hard to seperate "MLG" from "Harcore", regradless of their differences... because main of the posts relating to both become very very similar. (AGAIN, when I use MLG here, I am ONLY referring to posts here on the forums. NOT all the posts, just many of them... the loudest obnoxious ones.)
I believe any thing Shishka may have said about MLG "watering down" Halo (although I am unable to find what you are talking about), he was referring to the often expressed opinion that there is only one way Halo should be played. These tend to be folks you discuss how they are the ones who played Halo 1 forever and the rest. He was saying that anyone single gametype made Halo dull.
The other point is that mods are allowed to express their opinions. While I'll agree that sometimes they make posts that aren't the best PR moves, they have always been directed at individuals and not communities on a whole. The anti-MLG/pro-MLG boycott was put into effect not because of bias, but because the debate had reached the level of politics or religion. I just don't see where Shishka denigrated MLG or the MLG community as a whole... just those who chose the posted poorly on the B.net forums.
