I have been to some sites, mainly High Impact Halo, which do not allow forum go'ers to have signatures.

I find that the forum would be much less cluttered with Brain Eating Zombies, and other sites that I don't really want to go to. Just ask yourself: When was the last time I looked at a link in someone's signature, and followed it, to get where you wanted to go?

I realise the fact that the best way to advertise your chapter or group is to put it into your signature instead of PM'ing random people. I know first hand that nobody really follows the link and joins the group. (Unless of course, if you are a moderator or on the Bungie team)

I also realise that Moderators find their signatures to be helpful for distribution of rules. In these kind of forums (no signatures, see HIH,) moderators usually have the ability to make a signature for themselves.

One more point I would like to add is that I usually find myself judging a person on how their signature is made. If it is about Brain Eating Zombies, or any other idiotic topic, then I believe that they are an annoying poster.

If you are going to post here:

1. Don't flame, make counterpoints.
2. Make your point logical, don't make yourself look like an idiot.
3. Vote!

Thanks,
Demonic Felony

Do not panic, or you will fail.

Sigs are a way to express your opinion and to advertise. Otherwise, the forums would be over crowded with a bunch of crap.

I like my sig.

I think it's one of the few things that make us different. Which sometimes is a good thing.

As long as it's not doing anything controversial, I don't see much problems.

Perhaps some on/off option? So that we can decide whether we want to view signatures or not?
I have no idea how easy it is to implement such a feature, since I suck at the technical stuff with the interwebz.

And oh: Arr! (it's talk like a pirate day for me)

Ahoy! I would love that feature. It be thar for t' people that want it, and not thar for people that don't want it. Achronos would know how hard it be t' implement. It be talk like a pirate day for me too now! Walk t' plank!

Ahoy. It would be a lot of work for our Overlord.

But hey, they said the same about the Search Bar, right?

In all seriousness though, as long as the sigs aren't causing problems, I don't see why we should remove them. Except for those that have harmful messages or annoying suggestions.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

I do sometimes follow links in signatures and find worthwhile sites...these signatures are also some of the only things on this site which distinguish you from the crowd of Anonymous Nobodys.

That sentence speaks wonders.

Signatures are sometimes too full of links that other members will not bother looking at them. But I've joined a group or two before because of links in signatures (in fact, I joined BP because I read Sir Fragula's signature). I'm sure there have been a few people who have clicked the link to my group. So links do help groups out. That's one important thing about sigs.

Another thing is that they allow us to squeeze little things that we enjoy or believe in 500 characters and ten lines or less. Quite often you can gaze into a person's very character if you read their signature. Provided, of course, their sig is more than just a series of links.

Sigs are pretty important to members. And they don't take up all that much space. Take away signatures, and a key tool to giving members individuality is taken away. Then we're closer to being just another member.

92% of teens moved on to rap music. If your part of the 8% that stayed with rock, rock hard my friend and put this in your sig

1. Your signature is filled with links.
2. People look at signatures by people with authority (Sir Fragula for example has different writing, being a Theme Master)

Not to rag on Frag (no pun intended), but he has no 'authorithay'. =D

Besides, I like my signature. It shows things that I like to do, interesting places that I like to go to.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

1) Who were you addressing?

2) That's true. But I also check the signatures of regular members. I can't speak for everyone else, though.

I like the signatures. With everything this site does to make sure we're all equal, it's nice to have a little something to use to express yourself.

I agree.

Once a day, I at leased look at one person’s signature. And some times follow a link to see something funny, So there not totally unused.

At Recon:

I just hate people's signatures that are way too long, and pointless. And I think that the idea of it being an option would be awesome.

Even though it would be a lot of work, I think that it would be very appreciated. (At least that's my opinion)

That would actually be a very good idea, but I doubt Achronos would get to it.

And to the posters: Thanks for being so good, I haven't seen one flame or stupid acting person here.

Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world.

I'm with JAVA on this one. I see the sig as a way to express a little bit of your personality and share some random things you like. If people want to use them to advertise groups that's fine. I always have the option of ignoring the ones I don't care to read.

A simple if-then statement. At least in PHP. The doesn't use that though, so I wouldn't know.
