I recently did some researching, and found that not that many community spot-lights have shone on chapters lately. Who exactly does these spot-lights, and why haven't they been investigating new, or large groups?

"I pledge to punch all switches, to never shoot where I could use grenades, to admit the existence of no level except Total Carnage, to never use caps lock as my "run" key, and to never, ever, leave a single BoB alive."

2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?

Well they don't have to be Groups, just people who have done extraordinary things for the Community. Like Recon, he has been here for a long while. He understands the workings around this place pretty well. And with his vast bank of knowledge, he is able to moderate more efficiently and able to decide on tough topics. That commitment is a great benefit to the community.

They should continue Spotlighting the rest of the Community. Heck, KP did one for Recon. Why not the other Ninja's?

Why not some of the members?

My idea has always been that you guys already know what's going on in this community and what's spotlight-worthy within it. I'm bringing you communities that maybe you've never heard of or don't know much about. But since I'm seeing more and more people suggesting that we turn the spotlight inward, focusing it upon the B.net community, I'll do that.

  • 09.19.2006 2:02 PM PDT

That fuzz is just some mold spores and will go right away once they Lysol the spotlights.

To be serious, I think they have been great. It is important to remember that it is a Bungie Community Spotlight, not a Bungie Company Spotlight. Those chosen should be active members of the community as a whole, not just Bnet. That's not to say that there aren't members here that would be worth showcasing though.

Perhaps if you feel that you know of some good community members that would make a great spotlight, you could PM KPaul as a request or suggestion with a list of them and reasons why they are worth showing everybody. Don't expect a reply. Just a thought.

Oops! Too late.

I'm kinda new here, so if you mind me asking, what are these Community Spotlights?

It was nice to actually see the human side of Recon. I'm sure a few of the other mods wouldn't mind it too much if they had to let down their guard. Sadly, the Community Spotlight is something I didn't read, perhaps only because I was more focused on the B.net community, and didn't care about the other ones. Maybe I should go back and read some of them...

But I wouldn't mind seeing more Spotlights on the B.net community. I want to see what lies under some of those masks...and I wouldn't mind seeing a few of the members using a small amount of space to try and flaunt their personal lives.

News? Podcasts? Machinima? Active forums? Competitions? Jaffa Cakes!? OMG!
Thee Warriors!

Best. Mod. Ever.

Worry not folks. A spotlight is stilling running. There is a large delay since the previous one due to certain... issues amongst Alexander and the Council Chambers. Things are just out of touch.
I'v sent in a review for the group *cough*O-c-on*cough*. Erm, classified, and hopefully Alex will be up for posting it shortly. Only time can tell.
BTW if you do want to suggest a chapter for the stoplight, do so by sending a PM to Alex, Gods Prophet, BMW or myself. They can get around to reviewing it.
If you want guidlines to what makes a good group to be in the spotlight, go here: http://www.bungie.net/fanclub/65960/Resources/MultipleEntryDi splay.aspx?db=ArticleListingDisplay
Excuse the lack of updates.
And remember, nothing official. Don't get the impression that this is a Bungie supported spotlight.

Thats the exact equivalent of saying a "skinny" Santa Claus, without the beard!

I got carried away, someone said you were in the spotlight, how did that feel, and mind me asking, can I have a link to it.

Anyway, it was flattering to be interviewed and the folks who responded in the attached thread and via PM were all very nice and heartwarming...

Yeah, we all appreciate some form of communication, even if it is negative, kinda like a letter form the IRS. Ah, yes, the memories, good times :)

Good article BTW.

A couple of folks who I had previously blacklisted even decided that the interview was a good time to remind me that I suck and that they hate me.... *shrug*

That's retarded ...*gives cool bumber sticker for Spam-Mobile*...

Bungie makes video games for a living. They aren't in charge of making celebrities out of forum posters.

But isn't KP's job to take some of the workload off Frankie, which was to give B.net users and inside look at Bungie? I am quite literally guessing on that one.

KP focuses his all-seeing and unblinking eye on members of the Bungie community and asks them questions. Imagine Sauron crossed with Larry King, (without the suspenders).

The results of the interview are posted as a front page news item on Bungie.Net. 15 minutes of fame and then some!

That is a scary thought. Larry King and Sauron . . . talk about power. I like the interviews.

I'm not that active, but never dead.

All future Chapter Spotlights done by me will be released in future editions of GJJ's Bathroom reader. Thank you, I now I need to finish my Bridge Building Boat Operators course.

For the record, i'd piss my self silly if there was an Armatik action figure.

"Lazy -zapp!-, what the hell are you doing playing with me? Get to work lazy ass."

We're talking about the community spotlights, as in, the news articles that go up on the frontpage.

Anyhoo, I agree with whoever it was above that said it, I'm increasingly seeing HBO popup in more places than before, but I must say, they most definetly deserve it, one of the best Halo websites I've ever been to (non-official that is). But sometimes it's good to shine the light on some people right here at Bungie.net, and not always just the moderators, even though we all hate them anyways (just kidding).
