Translation : Why won't you do my group? *stamps feet*

You're largely right in that there was a lean towards HBO at first. I came from that community, but oddly enough the subjects of the first few interviews weren't my idea. I was very worried that people would think I'd only interview HBOers after the first few. I'm pretty sure that I've debunked that, by this point I've covered a ton of major communities, the last HBO spotlight was two months ago on Stuntmutt. There were two in June, BOLL and Jilly. Since then I've pretty rarely touched on HBO.

The biggest problem with things going on in B.net is as Johnrap said, it's difficult to know what's going on with all of the groups and who is spotlight-worthy within them. Infiltrating other communities and finding out who the key players are is relatively simple, as there's either a clear rank or the community is small enough to observe the dynamic in a relatively short period of time. These forums are much more difficult due to the massive userbase. And if cool things are going on in groups, I'll never know unless it's somehow brought to my attention.

I'm totally cool with people sending me links to their groups to show me the cool things going on and whatnot, and I encourage it. The more I get to highlight within this community the happier you, my bosses and I am. I'm more than open to suggestions as to who the spotlight should be focused upon as well. Feel free to discuss this in this thread or PM me your thoughts.

Well you started with Recon. Why not the other Ninjas (if they don't mind.)?

And there are some people who have been here for ages. You should spotlight them ("veteran" status aside.) And ask them stuff like how they came here, how it has changed, etc, etc.

*edit* It would have to be someone who we kind of know though. I have a few people in mind that I could PM you about if you're interested in that kind of thing.

I'm not necessarily interested in moderators or veterans. The reason I interviewed Recon was because of all of the posters I've seen around here, he is one of the biggest contributors. His signal to noise ratio is astounding. It's not necessarily about finding someone who's got status so much as it is about finding someone worth spotlighting based on their merits. That's why I don't like the "just interview another mod" hypothesis.

So does that mean you'd spotlight various people who you (or others) would see fit as "Spotlight-Worthy?"

Interesting. If you can find a way to successfully translate this into the Bungie.net community, it could work.

Are you going to spotlight people based on your call, or perhaps some input (kind of like "nominations")? Possibly a mix of both?

Mix of both. You guys can suggest whoever you want, I'll only highlight someone that really deserves it.

perhaps GJJ for his work on the Bathroom reader.
Speaking of that, you wouldn't mind answering a few questions for the BR, do you?

I think GJJ should most definitely be interviewed. His contributions are great and he happens to be a really cool dude.

Edit: Maybe you could schecdule and interview with Ninja 0n Fire, KP? I mean the guys is pretty much a slave to Matchmaking. He has to put up with a-lot of crap, as the rest of everyone else too I would think. But he also brings magic to every gracious Halo 2 player out there.

For the record, i'd piss my self silly if there was an Armatik action figure.

Maybe sometime KP could interview a true member of the community, not someone that is overly popular, not necessarily someone that's been here for a very long time, might even be a new person. I think this could be very interesting, though I know of a lot more people that are much more deserving.

Yes, spotlights should be determined by contributions, GJJ is a great nominee for his newsletter. Just because one was here for ages doesn't mean much.
