Bungie has a history of utilizing all the potential that hardware has to offer. With Halo 2 for XBOX, they did a lot with an 733 Mhz processor, among other things. Now, with their next game, they "pushed the platform to it's limit."

I would prefer a simialr approach with Halo 2 PC.

Anyone else agree?

Consoles don't need that high on the specs list because they only play games. There are no background programs running, no huge list of drivers coming on, ect.....

Well, then here's what Bungie can apss on to microsoft :
When we run games, Vista should switch to a "minimal mode."

But it's a port, from a console! Dude, Halo wasn't a poorly optimized port just because Gearbox made it that way, but because a PC is so different from an Xbox, with such different parts, when Halo was optimized to very specific parts of the Xbox, and wasn't meant to be compatible on different systems with different parts.

No. Two words: Halo PC.

Sure it pushed the platform to its limit...but not necessarily in a good way.

Here's a slightly better estimate at the specs for H2PC and a few FAQs:

BTW, this is not an official site, nor an official faq. It was compiled through what bungie has said and some assumptions.

Games graphics should always be reflective, in full, of the capabilities of the current hardware.

Gearbox did not do this with Halo 1 IMO.

The main advantage of PCs is that you can have sharper textures. Huh, I'm begining to sound like a broken record player.

The Halo PC port sucked because M$ wanted to keep a low budget. Halo 2 Vista, on the other hand, will surely net them a gajillion% profits. So no penny pinching. I hope.
