Whoa...erm...too much information here.

I'm not the expert on graphics cards, far from it, but I think it just might be that, since it's the most possible culprit of lag after the RAM and CPU.

Second thing, I would check for any malware on the computer. Equally as resource consuming, especially on new computers, are background apps for random preinstalled software.

The few, the proud, the leet.

6100's aren't that great. They're on the low end slightly better than integrated graphics. At most you should be able to play 800x600 with everything on high at a decent framerate. You have a PCIe slot, buy a 7600 or something. They aren't that much anymore.

Edit: That's assuming your 6100 isn't integrated. If so, then your framerate should shudder from 20-30.

Dude, GeForce 6100s aren't good. And lag has nothing to do with your system, only your connection. If the game is slow, then it's your systems fault, and it looks to me that your video card is a piece of outdated crap.

But it should EASILY be able to handle Halo on medium settings.

He's talking about framerate, not network latency.

ok dude, I see what you are looking at.

Buy a Geforce 7300, they arn't too expensive.
get a gig of ram.
Prosessor is OK, but really, is there anything higher you can afford?
there guys are right, 6100s are crap, get that 7300.

I ought a computer with near the same specs, and look at me! HL2 in full HDR and everything on high in Halo.

OK, I'll be honest I am HORRIBLE with hardware and knowing whats good and whats not. So if someone could tell me how good my graphics card is I would appreciate it. (RADEON x800)

I MP I can usually play with pretty high settings and not get a drop in FPS.

That 6100 is -blam!-, what games will you be playing? The 7300gs is also a piece of crap but it should suffice for Halo. If you want to play any of the newer games, buy a 7600gt.

Silly kiddies *rolls eyes*

The GeForce 6100 is more than able to handle Halo PC at full graphics, at 1280 x 1024, with high framerates.

Hell, my 5 year old Dell with a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 and 64MB of ram could do that for about an hour before it started to suffer framerate issues.

Sadly in my stupidity I hadn't checked the fan in those 5 years, I had cleaned the card plenty of times, but never checked to see that the fan was working, so one day, I'm playing halo, and zap, gota tearing and -blam!- over half my screen, had to get a new card, got a GeForce 5600 GT 128MB DDR2 ram from BFG, on sale cheap, 32 bucks, stuck it in, and guess what? It is WORSE than my old card, go figure eh? On 800x600, all settings at minimum, the game is virtually unplayable.

My theory is that the folks over at gearbox screwed up bigtime on the port, and based it heavily on whatever DirectX version was out at the time of release, and how that specific version operated in the graphics cards of that time.

Thus, due to the changes in DirectX and graphics cards, the game does not run efficiently anymore, so while your card may be more powerful, with the latest DirectX, Halo PC simply is trying to use them in the wrong way, and thus is suffering for it.

Are you serious? The 6100 is a crappy integrated chip barely capable of an average 30 fps maxed at 800x600. But you knew that because you're such a 1337 haxor and all.

Thats a good card. Not new, but it does run halo nicely. I had a X600 All-In-Wonder and Halo ran good at 1024x768 with everything on *no aa or stuff like that*, well it ran just above 30fps. I could run it higher but then i suffered a bit on frame rate. The x800 would be a bit faster since it is newer *obviously* and that it is not an AIW.

Now i have an X1900 *AIW* and it just kick butt. Just smashes the framerate through the roof and mocks anything less than it.

AIW *all-in-wonder* is a multimedia card so i can watch tv and stuff on my pc.

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

lol pci. um well you should be able to run halo at seetings so good the universe will explode. except for the graphics part. its either virus or a bad connection try resseting your router/cable modem and see if you can get a better connection.

But that doesnt mean he uses it. He still has a LAN port.

Perhaps telling us your Internet connection?

this is about his slow framerate, not the internet connection.

But he mentioned lag on campaign, something not connection dependent.

Master kim i know LAG from internet and lag from system. didnt you see i said lag even on Single player. i have a high-speed cable connnection its not the internets problem. I know gforce intergrated gfx cards are not that good a PCI would be much better. but i said Halo used to run smooth and NOW it dosnt. One more thing, its not a virus i jsut re-installed windows, so i've narrowed it down to someting wrong with hrdware, and yes i meant lag as in a frames per second type of way.

My connection is a 256kbps dsl. Better than dial-up (but not by much).
Anyway, try installing an older version of DirectX. What version are you using? I run 9.0c, and it works just fine. Also, try older drivers for all your stuff, drivers that would have been out just before or just after Halo was released on PC.
