Howdy everyone! I've quietly got on with completing Halo on XBox on my own (not on live) but having just unwrapped my new G5 iMac I was thinking I'd like to get Halo Mac for the extras and to play online.

The question is, is this a good idea? There seems to be lots of moans about it - especially gamepads? I've got an Xbox pad USB converter but I'm guessing this won't work. Any comments would help me out as I don't want to shell out £35 for a lemon.

Thanks!

Halo Mac is almost exactly like Halo PC in terms of how it performs. A G5 imac should be able to handle Halo no problem. If you have a good Internet connection, you should be setup to enjoy several hours of online play until H2 comes out. ;)

Thanks- that's good to know. I should think Halo 2 will land on Mac sometime after man lands on Mars! Anyone know about the XBox controller - will it work on Halo Mac via USB converter?

The Sniper wishes he could have a G5 too.

Heyyo,

Well, you can try that converter. Another thing I heard aboot since the xbox controller cables are extremely close to usb cables (just plus a yellow one apparently..) you can splice the cable, and slap onna usb jack yourself. For windows xp I heard there's drivers for em', but I never bothered since I just gotta Saitek P2500 gamepad cause it's cheaper than buying an xbox controller n' adapater.

Also, you'll find the gamepad MUCH harder than on halo for xbox, mainly cause the autoaim feature on xbox is turned off... so on your comp you'd have to learn to aim with no help, it's pure skills just like older sconsole shooters, it's all you. Another thing to realise about the computer versions of halo is weapons are less accurate than the xbox version to compensate for the aiming advantage of a mouse over gamepad. So if you go fullblast with a ghost the shots will start flying all over the place.

Also, I'm guessing the netcode between halo pc and mac are the same, so read that other thread about training with the pistol cause they give a lot of nice pointers on how to aim good with guns online.
