limited edition things are always cool to have and make it all the more special. i mean, years from now i'll show it to my grandkids and they'll be in awe as to how collectible it is (and what they could get for it when i pass away)

Which sites do you guys use to get Halo 2 info? I've checked all the major sites and haven't been able to find much info besides all the stuff on Zanzibar and multiplayer (not that that isn't interesting, but I crave more...).

Where'd you hear that?

 • 05.23.2004 1:39 AM PDT

I haven't heard anything official (meaning: From Bungie) about a subtitle, but my vote goes to:

HALO 2
Scorched Earth

First off - why would Microsoft insist on them using a subheading (I'm not doubting, simply curious)? Secondly, the subtitle really only hinted at what the game was about - meaning a similar formula could easily be applied to the sequel (oh god the lovely, lovely sequel). Lastly, why does it really matter? When was the last time you referred to Halo as, Halo : Combat Evolved ? Excluding forums or other formal addressing.

Although in retrospect, I guess I do understand the curiosity.

Good point.
Frankly, Microsoft could insist on calling the game Halo 2: Poop on a Stick and I bet we'd all still buy it, and the special edition silver-plated poop that they sell with it.

Because Microsoft has no sense of style. I mean, Combat Evolved? It sounds like (and I've said this before) something you'd find on a cleaning product or something; Halo: Fresh as the Morning. For more evidence of Microsoft's lack of taste, take a look at Windows. And Internet Exploder. And Powerpoint, dammit! Man, that thing is too ugly. If Bungie had wanted to put a subtitle in Halo, it would be cool, and actually relevant. Note Marathon 2: Durandal, Myth: The Fallen Lords, Myth II: Soulblighter. See what I mean?

Well, "combat evolved" isn't actually what it's about (See above).

I have never called it "Combat Evolved", I think. If I did, I was drunk at the time. And I don't drink. So there you go. But a cheap subtitle cheapens the entire game, if you get my drift.

If Halo 2 has a subtitle, rest assured that it will be awesome.

I think the point about the prototype box covers says a lot, if there isn't a subheading there I guess there won't be one. Bungie are hardly gonna stop designers incorporating the subheading into the design in some feindish conspiracy to hold back the subheading from Halo 2s already adoring fans???? I imagine they will have had to start work on all the promo stuff (ads, etc) by now anyway so a full name would kinda be necessary for that and theres no point to hold back a subtitle. After all its only a subtitle poeple.

This is sort of off topic, but Reiginko, I can just support your opinion. Apple's keynote is so much better than Powerpoint. Easier to use, much better looking!

For the subheading. Who cares? People don't buy games because they have a cool subheading. I don't care about the subheading, and if you think about it, what popular gaming magazine has ever rated a game better/worse because of its subheading?
