I've got enough money to buy an adv. A/V pack for my Xbox now, and I wanted to know if it would give a significant improvement in graphics and surround sound if I have a Dolby Digital Home Theater unit with surround sound and a 27" Sanyo TV (non-flat). I've read some articles that say you get much better graphics and true surround sound by using the S-Video and Optical Digital cords.

Just so you know, both my TV and DD Home Theater unit have S-Video and Optical Sound capability.

I have a 29" Flatscreen Panasonic using the advanced AV pack. The picture is noticably better on S-Video than on the normal RCA plugs, in colour and sharpness. It's not a huge difference, but you can tell. Whether that's worth 20 bucks to you or not.. is entirely up to you. As for optical sound.. I can only imagine it's better than left and right RCA's.

I recently just went out and bought it. I have a 20" flat screen with componet in and right off the bat i can tell the colors are more vibrant and sharp. I have yet to purchase the optical cable for the surround sound though.

s-video with gold plated rca plugs is the best in my opinion, you can get it at radio shack for 25 bills. A 5.1 channel home theatre is also a major plus for playing halo. i cannot wait to play halo 2 with the true 5.1 surround bungie was talking about. sitting in my room going through campaign with bullets ricochets behind my head, being able to actually locate something by sound alone, its going to be amazing

PS- i have a thundering hangover, so that may have been incoherent
