...And so the hero crawled through the fissure on the surface of Tyr. There, the lone Dwarf stared into the cold, dark eyes of Soulblighter...The fiend hefted his blade over his shoulder as a flock of raven took upon his form...

If it wasn't censored then a spammer could go and send messeges to random people with crude words. Some of these words could be really offensive to some people.

Why does it blam words out in a private message? It's not like a PM is shown to the public... its private.

Actually, if you quote what they said in a reply, the word shows up.

I think I've gotten profanity directed towards me in a PM...

  • 09.23.2006 7:12 PM PDT

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

I'm guessing that it's because it would take far too much effort (and probably server speed) to make the PMs not fall under the -blam!- filter.

If you really have to curse while talking with your friends via PM, don't! We'll kill you!

I'm glad Bungie.net has a -blam!- filter. Without it, there might not be as much active members.

Actually, you are right. It's not private that’s why it’s filtered. You made an agreement with bungie, not to use such language. Also, just to let you know emails aren’t private either. Have fun knowing anyone can read you're mail!!
GOVERNMENT SPIES!! BLARG!!!

I find it ridiculous that we need a profanity filter to begin with, but the fact that 13 year olds and web surfers can see it does indeed warrant it otherwise Bungie would be up to their letters in lawsuits from angry moms and uhh....occasional sober football dads.

Bah..signatures are for the weak.........

You couldn't sue Bungie if they didn't have a filter. MANY sites don't. All they'd have to do is throw a warning on there. Doesn't matter if people follow it. The law says, if it's there, they're not liable.

Therefore, a 13-year old's mom complaining because she saw a bad word would just fail miserably and LOSE money if she tried to sue Bungie.

But, on the note that the person might succeed, I'm sure Bungie could just persuade the jury with Halo 3 demos.

It has the word "Halo" in its title. That means an automatic campaign playthrough for me.

Cuss words are just inventions by man which seem quite pointless to begin with.. yet when you think about it, these spoken words could also ignite the hatred and ignorance we are all too familer with.

I'd much rather say blam.

BLAM YOU!

Ok, a lot of you don't understand why some companies (Such as Bungie) do the things they do.. I honestly don't believe it's to just "avoid getting sued" or "cater to the 13-year-olds that visit".. You know, using the "F" word isn't very pretty, regardless of what age level you are.

There are far more reasons than pleasing your moms.. .. Wait, no there aren't!
