Lately I've been on the forums and there seems to be more people joining just to spam, two days ago i got two very disturbing PM's (very disturbing) from someone who was only a day old. The rules of the forums also state that you shouldn't reply to spam, fair enough, but I was on a thread and people weren't just replying to it, they were quoting it, so even after the ninjas blacklisted them people could still read what they posted. Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas on how it can be reduced? Because we all know that mods don't have the time to edit everyones posts.

Yeah, if only people read and understood the rules... that would be the day... *sigh*

Though I would not be able to comprehend the amount of work to be put behind that.

Sometimes I like to go back and look at a funny locked thread and read the posters original post through the quotes. Although you are right, the person is blacklisted for a reason, so why contaminate the forums with their posts after they've been blacklisted.

I agree with you guys. If only people followed the rules.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

I'm guessing the main reason that some members quote the spam and flaming is to leave no doubt they are directing their post to that specific user. Sadly, it probably won't matter that rules state that quoting spam and flaming is a no-no. People are going to quote it for some reason, and will probably be too lazy to erase it.

So there's not much that one can do but try to ignore the quotes. Unless Achronos manages to implement Pezza's idea that is.

Yeah, but like Pezza said, it will take a lot of work.

I tend to censor the bannable offenses in a quote if I think the original poster will be banned for it soon.

I'm certifiable.

You won't like my solution; blacklist according to post content no matter who wrote the content originally. I've used it when certain numbskulls quote links to shock sites... extending it to flames and spams is probably overextending it a tad, though.

-- Steve'll note that it is, strictly speaking, "within bounds" for ninjas to do just that.

2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?

Well it is like what happened with the -blam!- episode in The Flood a few months or so ago...anybody caught quoting offensive materials was blacklisted, and the spammer Banned. To me that is the best policy...warn the morons, ban the idiots.
