Exactly how was this "ca-ca" proccured if the Professor Finkboner was in protective custody?...-subjects you to "alternate means of interrogation"-...

If I told you this answer Wuyie, I'd have to kill you. Let's just say a Troll that will not be named "visited" Harlan Finkboner while he was in the program, dug underneath his house, cut into the septic tank and lived there for two weeks waiting for Mr. Finkboner to drop the golden duece.

I feel there are lots of different categories.

SPAMMERS: Make threads or posts on the same topic over and over.

GRIEFERS: These are folks who are just trying to anger people and get themselves banned. Their post are like vandalism.

TROLLS (lower case T): Uncreative ones just start arguements for arguements sake. Creative ones create conflict through 'roleplay' and wicked (and often twisted) debate skills. While they enjoy angering people, they do it to point out what they feel is stupid (note: I am not saying trolls are correct).

RPS (repeated posting syndrome)L: These folks feel the need to repond to every thread whether they have something to say or not. Often they just quote someone elses post. I recommend Digg.com to them. They really aren't bad.

JESTERS: Jesters rarely post seriously. Every thread is an opportunity to make a joke. They rarey add to any conversation but they also never take things too far off topic. Often misinterpited as trolls because they often use sarcasm which tends not to read well.

BRICK-WALLS: Brick walls are a lot like spammers in that they make threads on the same topic over and over, but they are doing it because they really really want to make their point and feel like they are adding new thoughts and ideas to each of their threads. "Well, yesterday my idea was torn apart. I will change it a bit to address those issues and push it again." See MLG, bring back Clanmatch, new ideas to stop de-ranking.

THE TROLLS (capital T): Sexy sexy folks. Witty, smart, funny. Smell like lavender. Adored by small children and animals. Snappy dressers. International. Deserving of a Hump Day Challenge.

*smell knocks everyone around out cold*

Hey...someone called?

You have it wrong Weg...I did in fact get to the septic tank...but I didn't live there for two weeks....I did spin a web to catch the golden duece...however, the weight of it went right through the web and in fact ruptured the septic tank itself...it then took me two weeks to finally dig my way back to the cave...

Well to those that aren't aware of this "Troll" group, you have to understand that the word is synonymous to people who spam without reason.

Seriously, how are members suddenly supposed to realize that "Trolls are good?"

Because up until today, I always went with the "Don't feed the Trolls" rule because I was taught: Trolls are bad.

Just because a group of "good" Trolls has been formed doesn't mean that the association with the word suddenly changes. You have to understand that. I respect the opinions shared with me today, and the enlightenment on the subject. But that won't stop people from telling others "Don't respond to Trolls," simply because the name has already garnered a reputation of being bad.

And untile everyone realizes that there are two seperate kinds, I have a feeling that the word "Troll" will continue to be looked down on.

Used to be that white kids and black kids didn't play together. But then there was an enlightenment message brought forth by one Martin Luther King Jr. that reached ears that before had only heard that certain people of certain color were "bad".

Sometimes you have to question what you are taught. If your questions lead you to believe your original thought is true, great, you have justification. But if your questions lead you to believe that the original teaching is wrong, you're morally obligated to change.

Thing is: Martin Luther King Jr. took the initiative to break down the barriers by showing everyone that racism is wrong.

It's only natural for me to believe Trolls are bad because you guys haven't told us all yet. You've told me- but there are still 1000 members out there who will continue to say "Don't feed the Troll."

And until you get your message out that there's a difference between a "good Troll" and a "bad Troll," it will continue to be seen this way.

You just contradicted yourself. We did tell you but you refuse to believe us.

You saying that there's no difference between a good and bad troll is just really offensive and prejudiced. My people have had to deal with this sort of thing before, and let me tell you, it doesn't feel good.

As it should be. We knew this going in when we created our group. In hindsight, maybe The Trolls wasn't the best description of what we are about. But alas, that is our name, and we're not ashamed of it.....confusion and all.

Wuyie, aside from your manic sleep disorders, I agree with you.

Marvin- I have accepted the difference between the "Trolls." But you have to understand that even though I have, that doesn't mean the rest of the Forum has. People are still going to say the things they say about Trolls.

Seriously, it's like making a group called "The Republicans" and expecting everyone to believe you're Democrat (poor analogy, but it's the only thing I could come up with.)

Not everyone knows that there are two different Trolls. And it's not helping when I all see when people post shock sites are replies that say "Don't feed the Trolls."

And please don't move the discussion over to Wuyie.

Zag, I know you and Wuyie have differences. But you should resolve them through PM's.

I will say this though- Wuyie is not a jerk. You just have the wrong impression of him.

I'll say this: Bungie.net has always been this way, but in cycles.

About the Trolls, it's all a matter of opinion. We just see things differently. I respect your opinions, please respect mine.

There's a group called "The Trolls?" That's the first I've heard of it.
Anyway, thanks for pointing that out, all of you.

This turned in to one heck of a thread.

The differences aside, I enjoyed debating with you guys. Spent most of my B.net time in The Septagon today (not that it's a bad thing, LoL)

Therefore the statement "flamers are stupid" isn't true.

But it isn't false either.

I've been on B.net for almost two years and have never posted in the Septagon. So this whole thread is a first for me.

The Septagon is too high brow for my devious humor, so unless the topic is; "Atomic Weggie totally rocks...please discuss" I probably won't be back for another two years.
