If someone could define "troll", that'd be a big help...the definition of troll is subjective...
But the fact of the matter is, there's a big difference between comic relief, spammers, and flamers...some moderators do not know the dividing lines between these three types of forum regulars...a spammer, plain and simple, is someone who makes three or four posts in a row with one objective in mind: to post for the hell of it, a typical nerd with a pocket protector who's life resides within online forums...the kind of guy that would play dungeons and dragons every day...
A flamer is someone who insults others for the hell of it; they insult people for no reason...however, seeing how the word "flamer" has an alternate meaning...I don't use the term very often...
And I think the comic relief members are seriously misunderstood....people call them "trolls" and "flamers" when really, they're just cool people with actual lives beyond the goddamn computer screen that like to joke around. Sometimes, on special occasions, I like to think of myself as a comic relief member....it depends on whether or not I'm feeling punchy...but I have been banned more than once for my sense of humor, and 3/5 of the blacklistings I have had were just that--blacklistings served because I utilized my sense of humor...I find this to be ironic that some moderators ban me for a joke I made, when they're allowed to make mom jokes that are ten times worse than the jokes I have ever made on these forums....but hey--hypocrisy is not a field I am experienced in, so I'll leave a few of the moderators to look into their own selves...
But, like I said...the people that make these jokes are not "trolls," and that's a fact..."trolls" are people that provide those nasty links (like meatspin), or make horrendous sex references that are abnormal to even talk about....that is what I'd define as a troll...but I think the word "troll" is stupid, so I'll rename them: asshead...
