Dude, x1300 for 120 is such a better value than the fx5200 for 80. the fx5200 is pure crap, no getting around it.
Friends don't let friends buy FX series from nVidia. Those are the worst DX9.0 cards ever made, period.
I understand and aknowledge all your honesty, but can you people stop telling me this card is bad?! I know that already, but it's going to be a great improvement from my Intel 82845G. I know you guys are trying to help, but I have my own free will to buy this card if I want. OK, so it's not as good as the other good cards out there, but I'll go get those "other cards out there" when I upgrade my PC (which will be a couple of years from now). Seriously, stop trying to discourage me from buying something which I know I want.
If you want it, go for it. Just understand that you are going to sacrifice performance for having a better-looking game. The card isn't as bad as some make it out to be(the improvement in looks will make you love Halo PC all over again), but you would be much better off saving up for several more weeks and getting the X1300. A friend of mine has an AGP 1300 and can run everything at full in Halo with no lag. PCI won't be too much slower, so I'm expecting the same performance from mine when I get it.
It is better to have a hen tomorrow than an egg today. At your current rate, it would take you 3-4 more weeks to get the ATI card. It is worth the extra wait. I know you have your heart set on the 5200, but you would be much happier with the 1300. I'm trying to convince you not to make the mistake I did and skimp on the graphics because you want your decals, shadows, armor color and specular NOW, not in a few weeks more. If I had invested a few more weeks of allowance and my poor wages from McDonald's, I would have been much happier and also would have saved money because I wouldn't feel the need to upgrade now.
The choice is up to you, but I believe you currently have picked the wrong option. Make your own decision, but don't let an odd feeling of attraction toward one product get you ripped off like I did. It seems to me that is what is happening to you now.
I'm done trying to change your mind. Ultimately, you make the choice, right or wrong, and if you have thought things through I trust that whichever card you choose in the end is the right one for you.

I get 20-40 FPS in Halo with my Intel 82845G graphics card, with everything on high except decals, shadows, specular, etc. Of course I'm going get alot more, if not the same with my new FX5200.
No, you will actually have worse performance, but will get better graphics as the tradeoff. Try adding -timedemo to the end of the target line for your Halo shortcut. You won't be able to play until you remove it, but you can change some settings and find what works best while still satisfying you visually.
By the way, to get reasonable performance from my 5200 I had to remove specular, shadows, and decals. I also turned everything else down as low as possible: 640x480 resolution, lowest monitor refresh rate, particles on low, textures on low... you get the idea. It still looks much better than integrated because of the color and lighting. This is kind of weird, but using safe mode to disable as much as possible dropped the frame rate 10 fps down to a sad 14 fps average.
