*sigh*
I'll try not to sound old, or wise, or high and mighty. I'm sure that I will fail, but I am going to try.
Many people here are getting upset, and they don't need to. If we were talking about making a video-card choice (nVidia or ATi) sure, there would be people who are fans (even rabid) of either manufacturer, but nothing like this. And why is that? Why do normally thoughtful and calm people say rude things to each other like "simple solution, dump your POS and get this..." or "STFU, I wasn't talking to you!"
Seriously guys, there's no need to be hating like this.
If someone chooses their gaming platform of choice (PC, Mac, 360, PS3, Xbox, Amiga) it doesn't negate your personal choice or threaten your gaming platform one little bit. There is utterly no need to tell them that "their choice sucks" AND there is no need to get upset if some kid doesn't have any manners and tells you that "your choice sucks".
If I read the original post correctly, someone was asking a technical support type question. We get those all of the time here. "Why do I get this error?" or "How do I overclock my GPU?" or "can I have a CD key?" Oh wait, that last one's not technical, it's suicide.
The point is, that is someone is asking about a platform that is not your particular one, and it is not your area of expertise, why not do the really smart thing and offer what good advice you can, or state that you would like to help, but aren't familiar with the details of that particular platform.
Allow me to demonstrate.

As you all know, Halo 2 is being made for, as far as we all know, only Windows Vista. There are a fraction of people who will be at least temporarilty left out of it. For the Windows XP people, it's just till they get Windows Vista. But for us poor Mac schmoes, it's completely hypothetical. All we can do is hope that Halo 2 is made for Mac OS X, Tiger or Leopard.
If they don't, we do have a Plan B. As well-informed Mac users know, the new iMacs, MacPros, etc, all come with Windows XP natively. In about six to eight months, production will begin, and hybrid software will be released for both systems.
Hopefully, some scenario can be worked out where us Mac guys can play Halo 2 Vista! Whether it's made for XP, too, or if the new Macs will be able to run Vista, we do have a chance!
I'm like you, I doubt that "Plan A" of MS releasing it for Mac OS is likely. Though they might find a Mac developer who is willing to share risk (like Aspyr) and release it, I for one wouldn't hold my breath.
I think that "Plan B" is the main reason that it won't happen. With the advent of the Intel chipsets and features like BootCamp, it's very likely that Mac owners who have new and high-performance components will likely need to install a copy of Vista in order to play the game.
Installing and using Vista a compromise that a Mac user would likely take (for various reasons) and get the bonus of running Vista-only programs/games. For MS, it's an even bigger win, since they are selling their OS and applications to folks who previously only used Windows if they had to.
There, see? No yelling, no snide remarks, no telling someone that they are foolish or worse because they didn't make the same purchase that I have. It's not hard, and it doesn't put the person asking the question in a position where they feel they have no option other than violating rules and flaming in "defense".
Now, the OP is not without sin either. No one can "make" anyone put something on these forums that they didn't want to. If you (or any member) sees something that makes your blood boil and you feel that you "just have to respond", do yourself a favor. Don't. Don't respond, don't reply, just simply reply and respond to people who are on-topic and properly taking part in your discussion. If someone is trying to get your attention by insulting your choice in computer, you are giving them a reward by lashing out. Try not to.
Can we continue this discussion? (because the subject is really simple) What seem to be the alternatives for Mac gamers who are eager to play H2V?
Thank you for seeing it the way I do!
Happy now? Glad you are. 'Cause i don't feel like debating anymore, considering I just dumped the idea of joining my high school debate/mock trial team, due to a long commitment, which I definitely don't have.
