As you all know, Halo 2 is being made for, as far as we all know, only Windows Vista. There are a fraction of people who will be at least temporarilty left out of it. For the Windows XP people, it's just till they get Windows Vista. But for us poor Mac schmoes, it's completely hypothetical. All we can do is hope that Halo 2 is made for Mac OS X, Tiger or Leopard.

If they don't, we do have a Plan B. As well-informed Mac users know, the new iMacs, MacPros, etc, all come with Windows XP natively. In about six to eight months, production will begin, and hybrid software will be released for both systems.

Hopefully, some scenario can be worked out where us Mac guys can play Halo 2 Vista! Whether it's made for XP, too, or if the new Macs will be able to run Vista, we do have a chance!

Okay first of all, macs are for rich losers lol.
2nd, the new macs don;t come with windows xp. You actually have to have a sp2 disc to install(an have it working correctly.)
Assuming you have an older non-intel chip mac, you'll have to buy a whole new mac. Since you simply cannot upgrade the processor.

Did I mention macs are for rich losers yet? You can easily get a cheap pc, for about $500, that is fully windows vista capable. There's a good chance that bootcamp will not work correctly in the future.(Well its like that on my bros mac. Of course he installed windows xp sp1. Only graphics and keyboard work with it lol).

Hmmm... Rich losers? Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

Like to back that first statement up?

Yes, you can get a cheap PC for $500, but what does it have to offer beyond basics? The commercials run on TV saying "Get a new Dell, whatever it may be, for only $399.99!"

But what does that come with? Just the basics. If you put on all the extra cool stuff that you'd like to have, such as a CD and DVD burning drive, better graphics card, bigger hard drive, etc., it costs just as much or more than a Mac. Macs come with all the extra cool stuff standard.

And if you just need the basics, that's fine, go ahead and order one of those, but if you want more, go for a Mac.

Let's do a little research shall we?

Mac Pro

Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon "Woodcrest" processors <-- Normally used in Servers... not sure why it's in a desktop...

4MB shared L2 cache per processor

1.33GHz dual independent frontside buses

1GB memory (667MHz DDR2 fully-buffered DIMM ECC)

NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT graphics with 256MB memory

250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7200-rpm hard drive1

16x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

Price Tag: $2,499.00 USD.

XPS 700

Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM
250GB HDD
20 inch UltraSharp™ 2007FPW Widescreen Digital Flat Panel (Included)
Dual 256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS
Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic w/Dolby® Digital 5.1

Price Tag: $2,444 USD

That's going all out, and way nicer than the mac.

You want budget?

iMac

17-inch widescreen LCD

2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor1

1GB memory (2x512MB SO-DIMM)

160GB Serial ATA hard drive2

8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD+R DL, DVD±RW, CD-RW)

ATI Radeon X1600 graphics with 128MB GDDR3 memory

Please note that no Apple software (that you claim is the "cool stuff") comes installed on that... :|

Price Tag: $1,199.00

www.ibuypower.com Configuration

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
1024MB [512MB X2] DDR2-800 PC6400
250 GB HDD
16X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive
600W PMPO 3 PCS Super Bass Subwoofer Speaker System
nVidia GeForce 7900GT 256MB

Better components than the Mac, and almost $250 cheaper.

Price Tag: $951.00 USD

Not to mention the fact that if you actually build it yourself, you could probably get the equiviliant to the XPS and ibuypower computers for a LOT less. What does a budget Mac offer other than the basics?

No offense Mattbluehalofan, but you just got PWNED to oblivion with that post. But seriosuly, before you start flaming me and Nihlistic, read and compare his post links. Seriously, you tell us that we are all supposedly "Mac-haters", but you overexaggerate way too much in all your posts.

*comparison snipped*

What does a budget Mac offer other than the basics?

What indeed. You know what? It doesn't matter.

They're personal computers. First word "personal". The choice to buy one is personal and the choice on which one to buy is personal.

You made a comparison, fair enough. If that is all that you need to make a decision, then you can make your own personal decision. People do just that every day.

But for some people, buying a personal computer is much like purchasing an automobile. People make similar choices for almost always personal reasons. Price, comfort, style, performance, reputation, even ego. And those personal reasons are up to the individual.

Some people buy and leave it stock, some people buy and customize and trick it out. Some folks buy and treat it like crap, others baby it. Some use it for driving to work, for other's it never leaves the garage. Who are any of them to tell the others that they are "wrong" or made a "bad choice"?

If someone wants a computer that can run many of the open-source OS's and the two most popular commercial OS's as well as the applications for each, so WHAT if they choose to do so and spend THEIR money doing it?

This snobbery, on either side needs to stop. People need to GTFU. The G is for "Grow".

Surely you read the post I was responding to before you read mine, right? I hope so...

I'm truly sorry that you interpreted my post as me saying that PC's are better than macs. I was refuting what he said, "Macs are expensive because they already come with all the CD burning, good vid cards, etc and pc's are just as expensive after you add those things".

It's completely untrue, that's the only reason I posted those comparisons. Please don't tell me to "GTFU" when I've done nothing to add to the flame war, I've merely set some facts straight.
