Qoute: "Oh man...
Well now I understand now why the HaloGen mod for C&C Generals was shut down. M$ probably saw all the community support and anticipation that it was getting so they probably decided that they could make money off of doing the same thing (only crappier), and shutting down the "competition" (Halo fans making a great mod for the sole love of the Halo universe, while not taking a dime for themselves). If you aren't familiar with HaloGen, or you think I'm making this up, you can see the official statement from the mod team here: Old Halogen Site Good going M$, way to go.
I hate to be a downer guys, but it looks like the Ensemble guys are letting us down. You would think that if they really were true hardcore Halo fans then they would at least try to stay true to the look and feel of Bungie's vision of the Halo universe.
Those Elites? They looked like some kind of monster right out of Unreal Tournament 2005. In my opinion, Bungie's vision for the Elites in Halo displays them as, well, Elites. Elite in the sense that they are the ultimate killing machine. They are proficient in weaponry and tactics, they are a force to be feared, but at the same time they are a force to be respected. Their demeanor commands respect, they are not monsters, but fearsome, efficient soldiers. Ensemble's poor interpretation of this has them displayed as big bulky monsters, not the efficient soldiers that they are in the true Halo games.
While I have wanted to see Halo make an appearance in the RTS genre ever since it was released, I fear for this. Please don't ruin the Halo name Ensemble. Please don't disappoint me.
As for Peter Jackson's new deal with Bungie, that sounds interesting, but we'll have to wait and see untill we have more info."
I messed up the quote, sorry.
Wow, I was totally insanely happy until I read this post. This guy is 100% completely right though. I am so happy that we get more Halo, but please don't mess this up Ensemble. If it doesn't feel like Halo, then just don't force it. There is plenty of time for refinement and I'm still happy to see the story continue. However, as true fans, we should stay optimistically cautious of this new interpretation. Anyway, it still looks awesome and I can't wait to get more info.
