I say this.

If the RTS game is as bad as the name they've given it, cool. Take it back.

If Peter Jackson's 'experience' is not what you hoped for, or is terrible take it back.

Then when you've taken them back (or most likely got bored to hell with them after the 2 years you've played them), tear open the plastic seal off of Halo 3.

Win. Win. Win. Are Microsoft and Bungie money-grabbing bastards? Of course they are! Does that make me hate them? Absolutely not. I love Halo, and my 360. I don't hate my iPod because it's made by another huge corporation. And I don't hate my BRAND NEW Gibson Custom .335 because it's made by the worlds Biggest guitar manufacturer! These things are (in one way or another) designed to entertain me. And that they do really well.

Grow up kids. Instead of listening to emo music, and being depressed about everything, go to amazon, and buy 'The Bass-ic Collection' by Stanley Clarke. Then go to your favourite pr0n website, and enjoy yourself.

Yep.

The more Halo the better. The more games they make, the more entertainment for the fans. Sonic and Final Fantasy have been milked to hell... who cares? I'll gladly pay some microsoft points for the marketplace remake of 'Sonic' and like it, but I won't buy 'Shadow the Hedgehog' because it's crap. I'll buy those Final Fantasy remakes for my DS and play them on the train to uni, but I have no use for a replica Masamune... yet.

Something > Nothing.

If there's a game or piece of merchandise I don't want, I won't get it. I got the HGN, Halo 1 chief figure etc. but I didn't go out and buy Dead or Alive for one character, I didn't get the limited edition Flood spore figure; because I don't want them. You don't have to buy Halo Wars if it's not good, it's not going to interfere with Halo 3 so what's the problem?

Halo has masses and masses of swag already. 4 Books, a Graphic Novel, Action-figures, TV shirts, Key Rings, Pens, Mugs the list goes on. They've had companies making replica Spartan armour too. I don't see these new games as anything different than any of the above.

Bungie can milk Halo all they like in my eyes, as long as they don't do something truely stupid like make a Halo 3D platformer or do a spin-off with Bowser as the main boss, I could care less.

Amen brotha, aaammen! PRAISE TEH LORD!1111!!!!!!oneone!1!

Alright, so after lovely nice reassurances from Achronos in this thread that the community is listened to; we get an absolutely bollocks update.

The RTS has been universally well-received

Frankly, Frankie needs to take part in the community, how can anyone say this? Not even the community, the whole -blam!- world. Half of said -blam!- world has been going "Hah, halo is being whored out to the highest bidder" and the other half is going "I don't care, to be honest" with a tiny sliver in the middle made of halo fans, going "Woo! RTS!". It just proves every single point i raised in the OP; no community interaction, just pimpage of every microsoft product in sight, from the shoddy RTS concept to the Zune.

I've spent the majority of my time the past few days absorbing the reactions of the Halo community

Lots of absorbtion, no response. Inaction, no reaction.

*sigh*

Yes, but did you enjoy his latest 'community' infomercial for the Microsoft HD DVD Player?

He really liked it. Furthermore you can buy the amazing Microsoft HD-DVD Player for only $199 with (gasp.... who'd have funk it) Peter Jackson's King Kong!!!

That's right people.... let's talk a little but more about Frankie's role in the 'community'.

LOL.

I ought to sic my cousins in the Gow clan on him for that one. The wrath of unbald Scotsmen is a thing to be feared!

After Achronos made his post, I decided to just sit back, let the furor die down and see how things turned out. I don't know about Final Fantasy, but I do know that the BattleTech franchise seems to be going pretty strong despite its age and the number of games it includes.

Then I read the weekly update and rolled my eyes for reasons other than amusement for the first time in a very long time. I'm sure Frankie is really busy and all, but for something like this to come up... it just looks silly, to say the least.

Whatever happened to "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE HAWT"? At least we laughing with him and not at him back then.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Am I one of the few people that think that Frankie and the others at Bungie need a bit of time to themselves? I mean these guys are working on Halo3, Halo2 Vista, a Halo movie, Halo Wars, and they just got finished with the HGN, and of course the Ghosts of Onyx. Now I know quite a few of these are in an advisory role but it does take time and these guys and gals have friends and families.

I know that you guys want more interaction with them but remember that "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". If it means a lesser degree to them posting or a bit more "fluff" in the updates then I say so be it. They are human after all and the world doesn't stop turning if Frankie and the boys decide not to come out and play.

Wow, this is just like the Covenant civil war. With the Elites( Seperatists) losing faith in the prophets and the Old Ways and the Loyalists defending those Old Ways Zealously.Hmmm, maybe not like that..but their is obvioulsy a divided fanbase here. Alas, I am but a Halo and Halo2 fan, not member of the Old Gaurd who have played Myth, Gnop!, and Marathon( not much marathon anyways, sadly.) But, ya know I didn't like fps's before I played Halo. They had no life, no character to them. But I loved Halo..it had depth and was a blast to play, though some haters would call it a carbon copy FPS. Anyways, I could see that Bungie was a group of people who put a lot of Heart and humour into their games..and made me like an FPS and have a more open minded approach.! :)

Now Halo has become BIG in the gaming industry and has a more than enough fans to prove it, Bungie fans. But as of 2 days ago there has been dissenion in our ranks. Even moderators voice their discontent with the recent news of Halo War and various other Halo-esque properties. Now I know Halo has the potential to go out with a blaze of glory or be slowly but surely milked until it the fracnhise is little more than a dried-out husk.
But all we have seen is a trailer, and how can we use that trailer to judge the quality of a game we haven't even played or seen gameplay demos of?! Remember the first trailers for Halo:CE? The Chief had an giant antenna, and spoke in a high pitched voice. Whoa did things turn out different! The Trailer looked pretty weak compared to the awesomeness that was to follow. It;'s good to voice our concerns, but let's not give up faith yet. I believe Bungie will insure the quality of the Halo legacy! So hold tight, and let's "Finish the Fight!" :)

No. If anything they should have less leisure time. The world is waiting for Halo 3, and unless the guys at Bungie want to be labeled as a bunch of liars for not reaching a release date in 2007, they should work no less than 6 days a week and 12 hours a day. Halo comes first. Friends and families are secondary.

Don't consider this hostile, but check out Frankie's Job. :\

Some may be busy working on Halo 3 as that's their job, but being here with us is part of Frankie's job.

That sounds pretty harsh. Do you or I know how demanding a game design and development career is? Not really. But I was however considering majoring in that field, which makes me a bit more knowleadgeable. It's a very time consuming job which leaves little time for family and friends. And lets not even talk about the strain put on relationships and marriages! Though Frankie is the self named "content monkey" he also helps in many ways with the development of Halo3 and attends crucial events. like X06 or E3. Hearing comments like yours is what's gonna make them resent the fan community. You have no business to say when, how and where they may work! HAlo 3 will be done when it's done, you don't sign their paychecks!! The concern in this forum is that perhaps Halo is going to be milked to death, a fear which I hope is relieved.

I asked a question a few days ago...it never got answered...so here it is again:
Why am I continually urged by some people to post complaints about Halo Wars on Ensembles' site, yet all of these optomistic Halo Wars threads are still active on THIS site? It does not make any sense...

So I think Jun's a master chef, because he takes off his helmet and your like whoa, I think he's a chef.

So to shorten this up, Jun is master chef.

I'm not losing faith in Bungie, I just think they should've kept their partnership with Macintosh. They basically turned on Mac and joined the enemy. Just imagine, a Mac video game system, that would be heaven.

Thank you. Somebody else that realizes what I am talking about. I know if I was those guys my friends and family would come before posting on this site. If I have very little time already I am not going to sacrifice it to appease forum goers who have nothing better to do than think that I am only here for their pleasure. When some of you guys and gals get older, get married, have kids, a huge amount of bills and other priorities on top of a busy job then you will see how high posting on a forum will be on your priorities list.
