Oddly enough, I have faith that most everything we've heard about now: The RTS, Halo 3, the Wingnut project, the novel(s), and the movie (lots of -blam!-, ain't it?) will actually be the end of Halo. Not the end of Bungie, but Halo.
Don't ask me why I'm being so optimistic, I have no idea. I mean, these guys are making a lot of money with these additions, so why stop here? Why not make more novels, more spinoffs, more movies?
Again, I have no idea. However, Bungie just doesn't seem like a company that would sell out their franchise like this. I simply believe that they're going to let Halo die after all of this, and that will be that. They just... will.
But I'm not so sure about the fanbase. Halo has been the biggest things in video games since the pronged controller, and has built up millions of fans. It made Xbox Live popular. That's huge. Now, when the movie is released, all the novels already in Borders, the RTS and Jackson's "secret 360 project" already available, and Halo 3 in the hands of every 360-owner in the country; what will happen next?
Well, some may simply wait for Bungie's next game, their hopes higher than ever that their next game will be as amazing as the Halo trilogy. Others, most certainly, will demand Halo 4. It is also quite possible that some may go into a state of withdrawal without their Halo fix, playing Halo 3 to their dying days.
This, as well as the reason for my faith in Bungie as a video game company, is beyond my knowledge, but there you have it: My $0.02.
