This is one that I crated a while ago. The problem with a heavy machine gun in Halo is that it would easily outclass the battle rifle and similar weaponry. Thus, I added a few detractors that would weaken the weapon and thus was born the...

The M24-B Reaver Chain Gun: A Heavy Support Weapon which Halo lacks. Large caliber rounds, insane firing rate and long range. Drawbacks. Takes a full second to cycle up to speed in order to fire. While firing, limited to walking speed only as the gun bucks in your arms and you have to fight to keep the reticle on your target. Due to its complete lack of accuracy it is normally held as best as possible in the general direction of your enemy.

This weapon, normally mounted in fixed positions can be held aloft by a Spartan and it cycles multiple chambers via an electic motor and battery.

Special Note by Gen. Anders: All attempts to use this weapon in Spartan Simulated Combat drills show that not even Spartans can wield this Reaver in Close Quarters. All who have tried have failed. At close range any Elite or Spartan can easily leap out of the firing arc the moment they hear the Reaver powering up. Once firing it cannot turn fast enough due to the recoil to follow the target.

Primary Purpose: Infantry Suppression
Secondary Purpose: Anti-Vehicle
AVAILABILITY: Rare
ZOOM: None
ROUNDS - DEFAULT: 480
ROUNDS LOADED PER USE: Chain Fed
MAX AMMO CAPACITY: 1920
ROUNDS FIRED PER SECOND: 40
RELOAD TIME: 8 seconds (Only needs to be reloaded when new ammunition is found)
MELEE RATING: Impossible
HIT DAMAGE: 60-80 DU per Round.

very nice idea's i like the gun but i have only 2 problems one your using a joystick to controll the recticle that would annnoy the hell out of me if i had to fight to keep the damn thing on target. i wold hate the gun just because of that. and no meele attack? every weapon had a melee attack in the original halo. from the small regular punch with the plasma pistol to the humungusly bulky rocket launcher. there needs to be a meele attack with every weapon in halo no matter how impractical.

That's the point. It's supposed to be unwieldy and hard to use. The fact that one bullet can take down most to all of a Spartan's shields would make it insanely lethal if it could be held easily on target. Heavy machine guns aren't meant for suppression, not sniping.

As for the Melee attack... I guess it's a possibility but you'd get tangled up in the chain feed...

Lugging around an M-60 type weapon and firing from the hip isn't easy.

[Addendum: I think you didn't write that statement properly. You'd hate to use the joystick to control the reticle? You always do that... how else do you look around...?]

well i can agree with you saying that it's suppose to be unwieldy and hard to use but i don't like the idea that i have to twitch around with the controller to keep it on target. i would rather make it extremely inaccurate kind of like the macine gun on the scorpion tank rather than have the recticule jumping around like crazy.

how the hell would a heavy machine gun give humans more firepower?!?!? thats what the humans want, aaaannnnnnndddd, how could it be too much if the humans are using lead bullets, and the covenant are useing super heated plasma? too much power would be like a covenant virus that only kills aliens or something

Because the Tank can't climb on top of buildings, access tight ravines, into tunnels, into bases....

Ok, first off rounds now adays do not fire lead, that is too soft a metal. It depends on the type of gun you are using that determines the round. And the picture is of a mini-gun, not a gatling gun. MC could always kick as a melee attack, and why can't he melee with no weapon.
