Well Omniosspartan has been helping me bring some pieces together so I can build my own Tower of Pwnage.

I think me and omnios have assembeled some good parts but I still would like your guys opinion. I have posted every part I am planning to buy and instead of just telling you about the parts I'm posting a link. ( Because I have the computer education of a brain damaged monkey with down syndrome.)

Motherboard

Processor

RAM

Hard Drive

Graphics Card- I am waiting for DX10 cards

OS- Vista

DVD Burner

Keyboard

Mouse

And just because it looks cool..Case

I posted everything so you could see everything I intend to get.

I'm think I got all the important parts and I already have a DVD drive and a floppy disk drive and I think I got everything else so give me some feadback.

mobo: very good, i like the 8 sata connectors.

cpu: very nice. i wish i had it >.> all i have is a P4 3.0 that i oced to a 3.8.

ram: looks fine.

hd: good. personally i would buy 2 hds. either run them as separate hard drives, or set it up as a raid 1 *both act as 1 hd, but each is an exact copy of the other* if you bought 4 tho... then you could have a raid 10...

burner: a burner is a burner, yourse should be fine.

keyboard & mouse: better buy some batteries too... =þ

case: nice. It looks good. *make sure your wires aren't messy tho.* i would show you my case but the *excuse my language* bastards disabled it...

just one question. Are you going air cooling or water cooling?

Great setup but dont u think its an overkill?? u must have ALOT OF MONEy!!!!!!!!!!....im sure u'll be able to play games(next gen games as well) on very high settings without having to go crazy... the mobo i think is just an overkill, u dont need something like that to play games, the processor is great nothing to say about that (i heard it oc's great), RAM isnt that important u shouldnt go of spending so much on it i think 1gig is good for now games u wont need 2gigs until the fully dx.10 games are out which im guessing will take a while.but its ur money im just trying to save u money :)

what he is doing is building a tower for tommorow! Personally I have 3 gigs of ram, but i do some pretty big things though *once 2 gigs were full with stuff that i was working on <.<.* The mobo isnt really over kill, seeing as that the mobo is what keeps everything going! And I agree on the waiting for directx10 cards to come out, well, as long as he has a card for right now...

I'm not sure whether I'm using air or water cooling.

I'm going with air because its cheaper and has the same basic performance. I think the cooling comes with like the procesor or something.

Oh and I'm not spending all that much. Right now the price with just the stuff I listed is about $1300.

With the graphics card, OS, and the LCD monitor I'm buying it might be more.

However, CHRISTMAS is coming and I'm going to ask for a more expensive component of the computer so I can concentrate more on the less expensive parts.

Er, Your motherboard supports 667mhz RAM and you only have 533mhz. Why not just go up a notch?

The Cooling DOES NOT COME WITH THAT PROCESSOR because its an OEM processor. Find a good one at the HeatsinkFactory.

Also, your case does not have a power supply with it. Get an Ultra or similar (dont skimp out - the cheap ones fry quickly). Avaliable anywhere.

Otherwise, I think you got a good system, although I personally would order your parts from ZipZoomFly or Newegg generally because they are cheaper than TigerDirect.

The stock cooling fans that come with chips are garbage look for something from Zalman. THe case should come with a power supply but some do not. Any way this is the case you want to get, coolest lookng case out there. Is the 775 the latest Intel socket? If not you may want to get a mobo with the very latest socket so you can upgrade in the future without having to buy a new mobo.

Let him choose what mouse he wants.

See? It works both ways. But seriously though, Newegg is one of the best online retailer for parts, where as tigerdirect sucks.

Remember guys I have a budget. I do want to stay under $1300 or so. So keep that in mind. I'm not made of money and I have to get a second job to pay for this.

Anyway how much would I be looking at for a quad core?

That $1300 budget I gave you does not include the DX10 card I'm getting or Vista

get better ram, personally I would say 800mhz but whatever, 2gb is more than enough.

You need a PS and cooling stuff. Looks just like mine except slower ram, and unfortunately a little bit les expensive since im also getting a grphx card.

BTW, no need for water cooling unless you are gonna OC, get atleast a 580W PS btw.

Man you're lucky to have 1300+ dollars in cash right now. I barely have 80, and once I do get 80 bucks, I need it for my new FX5200...I feel left out...

why do you hate Tiger Direct for?

I always use them

Because newegg and zip zoom fly 90% of the time have better service and prices.

Hey Ippjunin. You can get a 3D Fuzion GeForce 5500 for $40 at CompUSA. And it's about twice as powerful as the 5200. And for about $120 you could get yourself an X1300, which is really cool.

Demi, Intel Sucks Ass, no exceptions. Get Biostar's AMD package.

Yeah, but the nearest CompUSA at my town/city is miles from here. And I don't even know the exact locations...o.O

False, the Core 2 duo(and of the Core 2 Quad) beat out every AMD processor.

But you really cant compare them. The Core 2 Duo is Intels next-gen Processor, and AMD hasnt released their next processor. Just wait...Core 2 will be just like the P4 - a useless hunk

WIth AMD's price cuts, hands down cost-to-power ratio AMD wins.

I still need to know where I can see a core 2 quad and maybe see a price that it may debut with. Maybe a ballpark.

So I looked at some of the AMD mobo and it seemed to me to not be as good as the intel one that static suggested. So tell me is it better or is it opinion. Obviously there is no end all be all but still.

Er, I still dont know why a home user needs a quad core processor. Just go with the Core 2 Duo.

Id go for an AMD personally, but since you dont seem like a OC'er, Id stick with what you got. Its a great system.
