Well here's the deal. I install Halo CE, get the update and all, and I run it. It runs, but the entire game looks like this:

http://myfilestash.com/userfiles/culmor30/haloceprob.JPG

But the thing is, the normal Halo runs fine. The Halo is not back, it runs at about 55-60fps, and has NEVER done anything like this.

And yes, I tried adjusting the resoulution to all possible settings, played with the graphics options all I could, but still nothing.

I would appreciate it if someone could identify the problem and help me fix this.

My graphics card SHOULD run this easily, but for some reason it's getting all weird.

SYSTEM INFO:
BRAND NEW Gateway MX3228
Windows XP Home
Screen res: 1280x768
I know the Gcard is good
All the requirements etc...

Please help me.

Thanks,
culmor30

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

omg thats pretty bad. try (re)updating your drivers and see what happens.

Woah 0_o

Thats crazy, try updateing your drivers again, and if that doesnt work, reinstall the game (maybe that will help). It looks like a driver problem though.

wtf did I tell you about forgetting to hit the space bar after commas, periods, exclamation marks, and question marks?!Don't do it, please.

There could be a program that is interfering with the display. Have you downloaded/installed any new programs before this happened? Other than that I don't know what to tell ya.

Sorry

Lazy linkers = grrrrr....

Well, it could be:
A corrupt install
A corrupt update
A virus (seriously)
Spyware/Adware
Antivirus (again seriously)
You tried to use teh shineez on CE, and it sorta worked. It should have made Halo crash when you start it, but, hey, maybe it don't.

Completly reinstalled everything. Wiped the computer, virus scan, antivirus scan, everything.

Installed it 3 different times from 3 different sites. Same result.

What's teh schineez?

So what if you know if your video card is good? We need to know if your video card is good. Almost certainly you have a driver/display options conflict, as seen with the unshaded ring, and resolution wierdness. What is your videocard and current driver for it?

uh, wow. thats a problem.

what kind of vid card do you have? also try this:

go under the shortcut for ce, then under the target field add this after the ", -useff

if that works then go up to -use11 , -use14 , -use20

those are the diffrent shader models. also did you try to start it in safemode? * -safemode *

these are the only things I can think of.

Ok I'll try that.

And like I said but spelled wrong; in my first post I said in the NORMAL Halo the ring is SHADED. Not black. It has a texture.

Sry about double post...

It worked in safe mode, but still the halo was unshaded. It usually is shaded. And that command line crap didn't work.

Because you need to tell us your video card. I'm 90% sure the problem has to do with the fact that your card is borderline between min-spec capable and max-spec capable, and that your drivers are out of date. Why is there some big secret about your video card?

I once faced that problem once. Except it wasn't as persistent, but it might have been, considering I fixed it immediately as soon as that problem appeared.

Here's what might work: change your resolution until you get it fixed. It may or may not work.

VIA/S3G Unichrome Pro IGP is my graphics card. Drivers are all updated. Just checked.

Once again, Halo original rins fine, why shouldn't this one?

And I switched the resolutions in safe mode, then tried normally, no changes on any setting.

Kay. I just want to say that I've never even heard of the VIA/S3G Unichrome Pro IGP, so I'm going to assume that's a really crappy integrated chipset. You, obviously do not have a good graphics card.

?

And I know it's a crappy integrated chipset, but it plays the normal Halo just fine.

And, if it can play F.E.A.R Combat, I'm assuming it should be able to play Halo CE.

Um, no, you shouldn't assume. FEAR, as a graphically intensive game as it is, isn't a system whore and is better optimized for PC gaming than Halo. FEAR isn't a port from some outdated console, but Halo PC is.
