What the hell still no big update on halo 3 whats up with that

No....BUT....

On the new and amazing Microsoft HD DVD Player the interface for disc eject and play is very simple and easy to use.

I bet you never knew that.....right?

This update just recycled all the information I've got in the past 3 days:

1. HD-DVD drive, check the official sites..this is just really poor PR work in a bungie update
2. Where I find the Halo Wars trailer..great, just recycle the information you have already given at X06
3. Some Zune and cake pics...well thats really original, but is it that interesting?

I'm not the person, who asks for screenshots or other substantial informations about Halo 3, but all these hints at multiplayer tests and that you're are all very very busy are just recycled informations in a paraphrased way.
If you don't want to reveal any new Halo 3 information, tell us more about the halo community or something Bungie related. But stop teasing us with the same thing again and again.

Now let us all build up the hype for next week! Maybe we'll get a juicy podcast this time...maybe

You want a Zune because it has a pretty H3 background? Interesting...

I can understand bullocks in terms of info, coming out from X06. However, I'd prefer a very short "Nothing much *details what happened at X06* kthnxbai," to shamelessly plugging not one, but two MS products in this update for the sake of filling space is sad. And nice job spinning the "Halo Wars is well recieved" truthiness.

That cake was absolutely awsome. The glass was mega-cool. Other than the cake, I'd venture to say that that was the Worst Update Ever, on account of the shilling of Microsoft products.

How much better would Halo 3 look on an Hd tv as opposed to a normal one? I heard the gold elites in Halo2 multiplayer actually look gold ..instead of yellow.. on Hi definition sets as opposed to not on them. >_<

"There are those who said this day would never come. What are they to say now?"
-A Great Prophet.

It wasn't as good as the other update but it was still Good. Peter Jackson is making the movie and his own game? That guys got talent. And I could make a better cake than that. Mine would be a to scale model of lockout with every level and room and weapons. BAM

Okay Update. What makes me mad is another accessory for the 360. I think the 360 stands for the number of accessories you need to buy to play a game/movie. Don't get me wrong I love the 360, but $200 more dollars. Come on I've already spent $500 now another $200. Geez.

It's only needed if you want to watch HD DVDs. It's entirely optional.

Only that a -blam!- external drive on a next-gen console is a big -blam!- piece of -blam!-.

It's actually a very smart buisness move. If HD-DVD fails, the 360 won't sweat it. The HD DVD player will just be a failed accessory.

If Blu-Ray fails, however, the PS3 will take a huge hit. Also, you have to buy the Blu-Ray player in the PS3, and thus have to swollow the extra $100 dollars, if you wan the machine. With an external drive, MS is taking a much smaller risk.

It's a bad idea. It's like "Over here we offer you something that has something built in but it will only cost you $100 more than something without it." and "Over here we offer you something that is external that you might buy later, and it is ugly and huge as -blam!-, and costs $200 US." Oh wait thats US. It's gonna be -blam!- $250 and I've already spent 499. I know it is smart, but it just shows they don't have confidence in their format. Having an external drive is pretty -blam!-.

So...Thankyou.

So I guess Sony isn't either? I am actually pretty embarrased to own a console that has an external drive.

Never Underestimate the Power of Nerds.

I'm not the one to complain about updates, but why did you have to fill 5 paragraphs about the HD-DVD drive? I understand the no pod cast but why advertise a product that has nothing to do with Bungie?

You know you don't have to buy it? It's only for people that want to watch movies in high-def. Most HD-DVD players cost around 500$, Microsoft selling a drive for only 200$ is a very good deal.

This game is actually based on ancient japanese wars. As you see here, we have a giant enemy crab. Flip it over and attack it's weak point for massive damage!

You're not anti-Bungie.... you're just a guy who likes the games expressing his opinion in the forums created (at least ostensibly) for that very purpose.

See, watch this:

Bungie, you are using your Weekly Updates as advertising space for Microsoft products in general. This is not an 'update' on Bungie... it is advertising. Why do you not inform fans as to the progress of your games and/or simply use the time to talk about various aspects of the Bungie working week? This is not some objective and altruistic gift to the 'community'.... it is shallow and not particularly creative PR that makes me belch. You are pathetic.

Witness, the courage to speak the truth.

I would like to add that I am not anti-Bungie. I am anti-shallow-PR-techniques posing as information. As regards all those creative and fantastic, hard-working people making a kick-ass game... I hold no ill-feeling.

Buisness is buisness... Maybe there is an explanation to this. it wasnt like any of all other Frankie's update at all; i mean no MC picture, no podcast as they said and no "juicy" news... I respect this update and the man who took the time make it and i hope your next one is gonna be better.

I would say most of the fire was fueled by the fact that there was little to no info on Halo 3 in this update. The small tidbit of H3 info in this update was not enough to satisfy my hunger by any means, but it's good to know that H3 is coming along. Everyone wants screenshots, lol..there was a funny 117 on HBO that describes this exact same situation. But, be patient, soon enough this images will come, first a slow trickle, than a stream, than finally a flood of Halo3 goodness.

As for the HD DVD drive business..well it did sound like a shameless plug, but Frankie probably gets REAL excited bout' stuff...being in the game industry means you usally get spyched up about new gizmos and such.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

You'll have to excuse Frankie, he was geeking out on pretty HD DVD pictures.

Seriously though, you guys need to get a little perspective. Here are two facts about Halo 3 for you:

1. Halo 3 will not be released until an unspecified date in 2007.
2. There will be very little concrete news on Halo 3 for a while (see 1).

So, given those to facts, sometimes there isn't going to be much to talk about in a Weekly Update that is related to Halo 3. But, considering that it is the Bungie Weekly Update and not the Halo 3 Weekly Update, that's okay. This week, the goings on at X06 were the big news. In addition to our announcements, some of the community team are there at the event, so it is logical to assume that some of the Update is going to be about what they see there.

I suggest all of you whining about the lack of Halo 3 content in this (or any other) week's update suck it up and realize that significant Halo 3 news is unlikely to appear in the weekly update. That is not its purpose. The purpose of the weekly update is to keep at less some communication to you while we're in these media blackout periods during development. Some news is better than none, and frankly, it is far easier to for us to do nothing than to listen to people complain because we didn't have any Halo 3 news to talk about.

Wow!

Thanks for letting me know about the awesome HD DVD Player that I can purchase for only $199 with a free copy of (surely not) Peter Jackson's King Kong!!!

Hearing that Frankie was 'super-excited about the Microsoft HD DVD drive' really made up my mind too. I mean, he's just informing me objectively, as a fellow disinterested consumer, in this lovely 'community' we have going here. *Single tear rolls down cheek*

You guys are the best. These updates are awesome. Oh... the cake.... my sides are still splitting. Wasn't that so cute? Halo fans.... gotta love em.

P.S. Do you think next time you could ask Frankie to include a price list for each of the games he mentioned?

Anybody else just a tad bit curious about the Peter Jackson/Wingnut project? You think someone with that kind of 'vision' (and resources) would have something very very special selected for the game..

I just really wonder which story arc he picks up on? Before the war? After Halo 3?

Achronos, if your read this post, can you answer one thing. What is that gadget in the update that has the Halo 3 theme on it?It doesn't look like an Ipod if it is.
