Subject: Cheater Forum?

I was wondering if you guys think it would be beneficial to have a forum or sticky dedicated just to reporting cheaters. This way those like myself who get tired of sending emails can simply post the gamertag and link to the game. It would just take one member of bungie assigned to check the games and ban them. I honestly think this would cut down on cheaters in XBL.

News? Podcasts? Machinima? Active forums? Competitions? Jaffa Cakes!? OMG!
Thee Warriors!

Best. Mod. Ever.

Possibly, but repeats, personal arguments and flames ect might spill out. I think the reporting feature on Live is better still however. I suppose we could give it a try.

The problem is that the Live feature takes to many feedback in order for something to be done. And when it is done it is just a suspension unless it is a 5th offense (or lower depending on severity of feedback). I figure if you make the thread monitored nothing can be said. It could be a sticky in optimatch perhaps where you just post the gamertag and go on with yourself. I believe a lot of kids would help clean up the community.

I don't know.
Maybe NoF or someone else could monitor it. But the team is already busy making H3. I don't think they could pull someone out and take care of a forum.

Ah, the moderators don't work for Bungie.

Anyways, I think that's a bad idea. The report system is just fine the way it is.

They tried that once. It didn't work out very well. I can't remember exactly why it didn't work out, but it didn't, and they took the sticky down.

Wouldn't it also break the "no threads directed at a single user" rule? :\

Very true. Although it's for a good cause, they're already humiliated enough by the Waambulance.

Or, you could just stick to the email system, which removes the need for all the flame-busting crap you've suggested.

It sounds like a brand new method of fighting cheating that people will complain doesn't work. The problem in having a forum or thread dedicated to reporting cheaters (besides the fact that less than half of the members would actually be using the forum as it's meant to be used) is that there would be too much traffic to get things done.

The issue with the emails is that ive quite often sent them, and had nothing happen. I get cheated alot, like almost everygame where I join hostboxes

Would a forum necessarily help with that? Traffic doesn't change, but now people are fighting in the threads. There wouldn't be any change in the amount of work being done, and the mods would have to work thrice as hard to keep the forum moderately clean.

That being said, im also sure that if you offered the jobs to various people on here, and gave them power only in those forums they could filter the list rather easily, and then pass on the list to an official bungie employee, or mod... meaning that there would be less mod involvment. This would work for games where people get bridged out, but standby would be harder to dealwith BC it is harder to see in gamestats.

Wouldn't it be easier to just hire more people to look over the e-mails if you're going to hire more people?

h2cheats@microsoft.com or just leave feedback in-game.

In my opinion, we don't need a thread just for reporting cheaters.

Did I say hire more people? People on here would do it for free, just for a different avatar, and text... that being said, the people would have to be selected based on their actions... so not everyone could get this spot, but you should now get the idea

Two follow-up questions:

1) Do we only allow these members to look at the game stats, or are they able to see more things, such as what the people who currently research cheaters do? (Assuming, of course, that these people who research the cheaters do in fact have more tools.)

2) Are these members supposed to look at the claims of the people reporting, compile a list of who is cheating, and then send that list to the employees? If so, are those employees to trust the list, or do they double-check everything? Wouldn't it be just as quick for the employees to sift through the reports themselves?

Or you could use the email: h2cheats@microsoft.com
Forums will be more cluttered and not much progress will happen.
