Hey everyone, I realized that its been awhile since we had any real community things going on, and decided that it was time to spice up the community a bit. So i'm holding a Chess tournament (which is at the moment called a chess contest for unknown reasons). The link to the group where everything is being setup is here.
For any and all questions, feel free to post them here or in the group. These are the current rules:
Here are the chess contest rules:
Signups will be for the next 3 weeks, from October 1st to the 21st. From that point on, anyone signing in will be too late and will not be allowed to participate. All bungie members are allowed to participate (this includes everyone, not just members, but moderators, bungieonline team, whomever).
There is only one prize, which is for first place. It is the latest Halo Mylar by Eddie Smith, which I will personally be providing. It is still sealed and in mint condition. Additional prizes for runners-up have not been implemented yet, but may be.
Sign ups will occur only in the sign up thread. Making any other thread or sending me a PM about it will not work. Just sign up there, and make sure to check the group's homepage often for news about the contest. Sign up here.
All games will be played on Yahoo chess to ensure no cheating will be done. This means that if you do not have a yahoo account, simply make one. It takes 2 minutes. All ranks will be inspected. It is also best to use their older version of Yahoo chess which does not lag as much, but that is up to each person. Yahoo chess can be found here.
The first round will revolve around each participant playing 5 games against 5 different participant, all randomized. Winning games will count as 2 points, draw's will be 1, and losing is 0. 6 points are required to move on, 4 points means that you are out. 5 points will require a one game against someone else with 5 points, and the winners will move on.
Each first round game will be a quick 5 minute game (this means 5 minutes per person). The first person checkmate their opponent or to make their opponent run out of time will be the victor.
The first round will be held within a 2 week period, and all games must be played within that time. Any games not completed by then will be judged to see who was at fault and fixing the rankings with them will take place the following week.
The following rounds will be posted later.
Any questions about helping with the contest can be asked here, in the contest question thread.
