Intel(R) 82845G/GL/PE/GV Graphics Controller

There's why.

I have the same card, but in one month, I'm getting the Nvidia GeForce FX5500. But until then, I use the latest Intel drivers. You should too, but if the download really didn't work, make sure it wasn't a corrupt download. Go to http://www.intel.com and try to find the latest drivers for your card. You won't get to see luster, golden visor, grass, shimmery water, and blood on the floor and walls, BUT you will see color, colored armor, more pixel details, and spray blood, the kind of blood effect you see in Halo 2, where it sort of blows out of your enemies' body in a spray form.

Download and enjoy. Hopefully, you'll be able to buy a new graphics card. =)

Well, I'm sure somethinggot screwed up while you were downloading from download.com, so just download from there again. If it still doesn't work, I'll help you find the link in intel.com. Anything to help a fellow Maw men out with graphics problem. =D

Ick. I got the 845GL myself. I know what your going through. If that link for your vid card that you were given didnt work earlyer, then I don't know what to say.
Going off current knowledge, the 845GL doesnt support shaders for Halo PC, and probably never will. Your better off buying a whole new vid card.

Your a real good guy, dude. I have a question, though. Do I run the program or save it? If so, where do I save it?

The problem is that you don't have a graphics card period. You're running graphics off of your MB, which is not very good. You may be best off just getting a new computer in the long run, but for now, try to figure out what the specs of your comp are so we can recommend the cheapest good card possible.

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

I recomend a nvidia geforce 6600 or 6200(cheaper)

If you meant that I'm a good guy, thanks. =D

But no, I don't think you "save" it anywhere. It's a driver, it automatically gets transferred somewhere in your hardrive, where it's nessacery. PM me if you got any more technical problems, I feel like going to sleep now.

Good night guys.

It didn't work, but ipjuunin, It would be very helpful to give me a link to the driver that you have. By the way, that video was hilarious.

Since I think everyone's got HOW to fix it covered, might as well cover WHY you need to fix it...

What you've got is an integrated chipset. As most have covered, it's basically a solitary chip built into the motherboard of the computer (the motherboard is akin to a Lego Baseplate, the thing that EVERYTHING is built upon). What most people are suggesting is that you get a graphics CARD, which is actually an individual daughterboard (basically, a smaller motherboard that fits onto the actual motherboard) complete with its individual processor, dedicated RAM, sometimes with cooling, etc, etc.

Integrated chipsets share RAM with the rest of the computer, meaning that, for example, a computer that has 512 RAM built into it may have only 380 avalible for use because the chipset takes up those 132MB of RAM. It's also noticeably less powerful than graphics cards.

When buying a new computer, make certain there's a graphics card on board. Some manufacturers will try to fool you by placing a shiny ATI or nVidia sticker on its case, but those can (and for some reason are more commonly) indicative of integrated than a card. That's if you're buying a desktop, however; if you're buying a laptop, you're stuck with integrated, and the most you can hope for is a brand-name chipset instead of Intel.

For the love of God. Stop double posting. There's an edit button right there. It edits your posts. Thank you.

I recommend you read the forum stickies. They have a ton of information that will help you out regarding Halo PC and computers.

I don't know how to say this, so let me put it here bluntly. Your computer is a piece of crap. Understand? It's quite simple. Go save up to buy a better PC, or upgrade it if you want. There's no software problem that we can help you solve. Sure, there's that driver K121 Widowmaker mentioned, but Halo will never look the way it should be on your computer. My advice - get a better PC. That's the only advice that can work, IMO.

Please tell me that patch is legal. Most free downloads are not legal.

Wait, wait, wait. I have to disagree on you here, because I don't think this is true. I strongly disagree that most free downloads on the internet are illegal. Many people make downloads, such as patches for their games or other software. Many people distribute free content over the internet that is perfectly legal. I have no idea where you got this misconception. Microsoft makes tons of updates and patches for Windows XP, such as Service Pack 1 and 2, and there are other free downloads on the internet, such as free games (maybe not much, but F.E.A.R. Combat and America's Army are perfectly legal, and pretty leet too) as well. Along with a bunch of other content. Pictures, videos, media.

Yes, there is piracy that can be downloaded off the internet, but I think you've made a misconception here about free downloads.

Master Kim, you didn't have to insult his PC. His PC is, yes, sort of bad, but you're always insulting people about how bad their gaming rigs are. If your PC was liek that, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be insulting people for their PC's. If you're going to insult him, why not insult me as well, I'm stuck with an integrated 'till next month (which is when I get my FX5500) as well.

Oh and to DanceswithSMG, no problem, anytime. Just PM me if you have any more technical/drivers problems, there's no point in posting here where Master Kim dwells for easy prey.

Hello! How is everybody feeling? Anyway, I wanted to ask for some help with halo. I have Halo: Combat Evolved for my PC, but my graphics card is apparently not advanced to run it at full capacity. The uniforms are ALL grey. The master cheif's armor is grey with no luster (shine) whatsoever. His visor is pitch black, no luster. Nothing shines, and there is no blood. Same with the covenant armor, the uniforms are all grey. Trust me, i've double and triple checked the settings, but the luster, blood, and shadow options are grey. I am 99% sure it is my graphics card. I want to know what kind of graphics card I need for Halo. I want it to run at full with NO lag at at least 800x600 resolution. Please help me, when I shoot a grunt I want to see his blood splattered all over the wall. Isn't that every man's dream? Please help me, I would be very happy to run halo at full capacity. Thank you for reading and considering this, please post replies to help a fellow Halo player out. Thanks a million.

freakish......my friend has the exact same problem!!!!

Alright, the driver works on all except the color. I don't know why, but for whatever reason, it worked fine on the first night I got it. I adjusted my resolution 20000000 times, and it's not that. Again, it ALL works except the color. John's armor and the covenant armor remains grey.

trust me, it isnt the resolution.

Halo can be a pain in the butt sometimes. did you restart the computer after the color was working? then when you tried it again after restart it didn't color?

*btw, go under the shortcut for halo/halo ce, go under the target field, and after the last quotes, type in "-useff" without the ". That forces the game to play under Fixed Function, which the integrated chip sets are just barely that.

I played halo for about a year on an old integrated chip set with a celeron processor, I'm talking about Intel Extreme Graphics, not the newer Intel Extreme Graphics 2. Trust me, it sucked. Frame rate of 10 or less the whole time, even looking at the ground. Also the settings were set to the absolute lowest with FF on and a resolution of 640x480. Add a Celeron Processor and 128 megs of ram and you can picture exactly what it was like.

It worked flawlessly for like an hour right after I dled the driver. Then my dad had to use the comp, and the next day, BAM, it sucks again. I don't know if someone restarted it........
