i just downloaded the halo pc demo cause im considering buying it. But my average framerate is about 20 and drops down to 10 sometimes. And im running the graphics as low as possible at 640x480. I dont have a really good pc but i think it should run better then it is. Here are my specs.

Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz processor
1.4 gb of ram
128mb Ati Radeon 9000(with omega driver)

can anyone explain why im getting low fps. Are there any tweaks that i can do.

Whoa, your specs are good, I don't know what's wrong that's wreaking havoc to your framerates.

Are you sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card?

Try it without the Omega drivers, I found the normal ones to be slightly faster.

well i dont think the regular driver will work better because....well ati hasnt made any drivers for my card other then the one that came with it(which sucked). so unless i want a ghetto driver. im keeping the omega.

Keep everything on high but turn off specular and decals and it should play fine. I played Halo with a Radeon 9000 before with ATI drivers and I never had that kind of framerate.

I think its your GPU. I've never even heard of a 9000 before.

my gpu can handle the game fine......300 mhz.....ive run games like call of duty 2 with better framerates than this. Ill try turning off decals and specular and see if that helps

Have you tried checking for any sort of spyware? Adware? Or even for harmless programs that clog up processing power/RAM (I'm looking at YOU, iTunes.)?

well just yesterday i got rid of all the spyware. As for harmless programs...i do have a few that i should delete. Im gonna check for viruses later today. It did help to turn of decals and specular but i still think i should be able to run higher then 640x480

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

I didn't know the 9000 could even run Halo properly. I hear the 9250 can't even run it max, thank god I didn't buy that crap.
