Don’t get me rouge I must have spent hundreds of hours on halo2 and there is now question about me buying wars and 3 but I was brought in to the story and even FPSs by the original game. It was jest halo stood out against the competition and maybe that’s why I think its better but halo2 had hardly any knew ideas compared to its father and that might be because its rivals copied its ideas but.... you must be able to see what im on about jest leave a response and tell me

if you have played the pc version of halo it might make it easier to see my point

Yes I do think Halo was better than Halo2. Only just though. Halo1 has one of the most enthralling and immersive single player games I have ever experienced whilst Halo2 was mediocre and frustrating at best. On the other hand Halo2 has one of the best and most fun multiplayers I have ever experienced whilst Halo1 was less accessible.

I am glad to hear that in the WU Halo3 has been compared to the "feel of Halo1". This bodes very well.

Halo1 > Halo2. But only just.

In terms of scale, I think Halo 1 takes the cake easily. Huge enviornments, awesome weather effects(and in my opinion) better vechile handling. On the other hand, and this is a shame, one thing that kills Halo 1 is the repetiveness. Other than that, I would have Halo 1 any day, compared to Halo 2. Which I feel is too toned down and "newbish." Oh, well. Its multiplayer was good, though.

Heero Yuy: My enemies are those who try to kill me and those who stand in my way.

Dekar: I hate to brag, but my skills with the sword are immortal.

halo was innovative, halo 2 took the innovatiness and refined it, which why halo 2 feels like halo 1 but halo 1 doesnt feel like halo 2. it doesn't matter which is better, they are both excellent games, both are fun

The gameplay in Halo 1 was extremely flexible, it could me a mad action game where you run into a crowd of enemies and fight your way out, or it could be a stealth game where you sneak past enemies and suprise them. In Halo 2, try anything wreckless and you'll either die straight away, die straight after, or hit an invisible wall and die. Covies in Halo 2 seem to have x-ray vision and always know exactally where you are. Halo 2 forces you to play in a particular way which is why I think Halo 1 is better.

Haha... excellent. Not really true though you should see me bounce around the map rocketing grunts like an idiot.

h1>h2, if I had access to decent broadband, could afford broadband, could afford to pay for xbl and could moderate xbl - then halo2 would be better... But halo2 relies on expensive bullshet that drains my wallet and being bought over by microsoft was a huge mistake as halo is now just a huge money making opportunity and a marketing tool for -blam!-s. Bungie needs to focus more on storyline/single player so I only need 1 xbox to have fun, not 8. Someone in managment has really screwed up and needs to get their dick out of my wallet. Halo2 is still a really really good game, but to think I'd trust halo3 to not be marketed to chubby xbl kids... well, you can be sure that ms or bungie will never make a cent out of me again.

microsofts days are numbered...

hands down halo 1 had the stronger campaign, no doubts about that. halo 2 focused so heavily on multiplayer that they kind of glossed over tha campaign. and all things consiered i actually miss halo 1 multiplayer. on the whole halo 1 was the better game, but if both were taken and i could only get one back i would proboably take back halo 2 just because that's what all my friends play.

are you talking about the halo games alone or MS in genereal? because i do agree that the fact that many new games force the on-line option and don't even allow split screen and that just pisses me off. however xbl isn't really that expensive when you take into account that you pay 50-60 a year for unlimited access. which really isn't that much (if you have a job). the first thing that brought me to halo was the lan party, when i saw 16 people packed on 4 tv's i was in awe, and that is still doable with halo2 and will hopefully carry on to halo 3.

Halo1 is way better because
1.The marines have better looking armor
2.Assault rifle is a better weapon than the BR
3.Warthogs and tanks are indestructible
4.Keys is fun to shoot at
5.Sniper rifle has night vision
6.The pistol is another better weapon
7.Grunts say wierd -blam!- (Bastard, he killed elite, -blam!-!!)
8.It's more challenging
9.Foehammer kicked ass
10.Sarge likes to yell at Mendoza and Jenkins
If you still think Halo2 is still better then you can kiss my shiny metal ass

one funny thing i have noticed between halo and halo2 is that people that were really bad at halo are typically pretty good at halo2. i think many prefer it because it is a more kill friendly game, so to speak. i still think halo is the better all around game though.

well, i, of course think that Halo 1 is one of the best games of all time, dont get me wrong. i still play Halo 1 on xbox, and, when i travel, halo pc on my alienware. i have halo 2, but just for the multiplayer. i beat halo 2 on legendary, and I just didn't feel like it did when i beat halo 1 on legendary.

Actually, my friend LOVES Halo 2. when he comes over to my house, i tell him "Let's play some blood gulch ctf." he declines, and opts for halo 2 splitscreen. not in a hurry to lose friends, i oblige. once in a while he plays halo 1, but only once in a blue moon

the short story is h1=hpc>h2<halo 3
i dont know if h3 will be better, i just know h2 is not good

I was meant to post this a few days ago but the computer I'm using chose to screw up...

SweetTRIX: halo is owned by bungie, bungie is owned by ms. So when I say ms I mean everything "sub-owned" by them too. Which is to say halo. All good companies die at some point. Things as popular as halo eventually drop to nothing. And xbl is $100 here in New Zealand (I think) because of currency and the government has probably found its way into taxing virtual services too. But our telecommunications are corrupt - we have some of the worst in the world ranking in at 22/30 in the oecd (www.oecd.org or something) making gaming impossible due to huge amounts of lag and the general management of the broadband infrastructure. Even if we were first I wouldn't pay for it (yes I have a job and a bit over $500 plus thousands of dollars worth of other basics I've bought, like my own computer because my parents wouldn't get a new one). Why can't ms make it open source so we can program it ourselves? We could run a free xbl service: you could ban people as you please and you wouldn't have to wait on anyone to make decisions. You would have total control. I heard about a free xbl service - don't know if its legal or if it works though!

And "kill friendly" games rock btw - if you have the time to train on a video game and play it seriously then that is sad, not to mention a waste of time. Do they ban people who kill themselves and team members? Because I do it all the time at lans. Often when theres lots of people around I just lob a grenade at a team mate and pretend it wasn't me - theres no way for them to tell unless I actually kill them! One time me and a friend kept on delaying a game, other players were pretty pissed off when they came into our room and saw us eating a bag of corn chips while bashing the "x" button :D

wow, given your situation i could definately understand the attitude. but MS caters to the multi-naitonal market and needs to make a platfrom that is universally acceptable and uniform. it's unfortunate that you have those circumstances in your area but no multi-national company would cater to a single country. just kind of the way it goes. not to mention it's corporate america. and i too mash the x button to delay lan games, some of the reactions are pretty damn funny. one time i stuck a friend before he ran into an enemy base and got a triple kill, he was mad because he only got the assists.

Halo's 1 campaign is better because;

1) all the weapons felt balanced so that u always felt like u had a chance
2) the levels were more expansive and longer, Assault on the Control Room anyone?
3) halo 1 did the dramatic moments better than ever, blowing up a starship.
4) the story was simple, never got in the way of playing, had good twists and ended up as a bit of an epic.

Halo 2 lost some of this in favour of concentrating on the multiplayer. A bad shame.

halo 1 hands down. I just think it was more fun. it was also alot more chaotic. i mean on the mission keys i threw a granade down a hall and there was like 7 explosions. flood, grunts, and elites flew out of it

Halo 1, its not even a fight. Halo 2 gets knocked the F%*# out.

  • 10.10.2006 7:21 PM PDT

The 'lay-back' feel of Halo 2 also heavily contributes to my dislike of it. Halo 1 had a definit sense of urgency, isolated on Halo, desperatly trying to pull off missions to stay alive, then a race of monsters attack and it's up to you to save the galaxy! In Halo 2 you fight off a small covenant insurgency, complete with marine punch-lines along the way, and even when you travel to a second Halo, get the chance to kill a covenant leader, get captured by a gigantic hideous monster and reach the covenant homeworld for christ sake, there's still no tension. Just "well, here we are, start shooting ^^"

Halo 1 was and is better than halo 2 , period.

The only thing that halo 2 had over halo 1 was that it was on Xbox live.
Halo 1 had Less auto aim, no -blam!- glitchy melee lunges, and "the pistol" which made the game.
Basically all of the people who think halo 2 is better are people who are bad at halo 1 because it wasnt "noob friendly" enough...
In halo 1 you had to be good to snipe and get headshots, you had to be good to 3 shot people with the pistol, but in halo 2 any random bad person can get headshots with sniper and a 4 shot with the battle rifle is easy as pie... GG halo 2 , i hope halo 3 is more like halo 1 and isnt as NOOB friendly .. but im sure it will be noob friendly just so bungie can make money from all the noobs that play it for that reason

well, i not being an new person, cannot relate to any other new people elswhere. but, i argue, the halo series needs them. imagine a game series where only people who have beaten Halo on heroic or legendary can play halo 2. its just wrong, due in part that eventually, veterans get tired and amateurs take over. its like real life. some people hate babies, but they were all once one before they played halo, or other great fps classics

l Udenwo l, I suggest you may want to edit out some of your post. Excessively using words like "-blam!-" or "noob" don't score you any points, as moderators dislike it. Those words should be exclusive to preschools since the way they are used doesn't match the dictionary definition or are too stupid to be there in the first place.

I think that "noob friendly" games are awesome. If someone becomes desperate to win at a lan and uses all the cheap tactics to win and refuses to play for fun I've got strategies to ruin it for them too...

Slayer: Hide. Your enemy will have no idea where the hell you are and nothing to shoot at, making it boring for him.

Capture the flag/odd ball/territories/king of the hill: Hide. He will be constantly getting your flag/the ball/more territories or just standing in the hill with no opposition, making it boring for him.

If all else fails I just repetitively suicide or - go in and beat them up, if they are a great player the chances are they're weak and geeky in real life (THE BENEFIT OF LAN OVER XBL!) When microsoft offers a xbl service that allows you to use your physical strength to beat up other players, I'm signing up.

Until then, we'll continue to see how many awesome suicides we can achieve... me and a friend spent ages on terminal driving vehicles onto the tracks and getting hit. That has to be one of the greatest parts of my experience in halo2. So that gives you an interesting insite of what me and my friends do to get fun out of gaming. It sounds stupid, but in my opinion its better than playing online and fighting over rank.

I only know one guy in real life who has xbl, and I never see him. Hes this random muslim/american/new zealander guy. When he comes over he tells us all that crazy jargon like: "playlists" or "match making" and other things that continue to mystify me and my friends because theres always something on b.net like "PLAYLIST UPDATE!" but they never say what the hell a playlist is! I just googled (halo2 "what is a playlist") and only found one site (g4tv.com or something - probably some dirty porno/virus site, "g4tv" isn't very descriptive, and I'm running service pack1 anyway)

Well thats life without live - as irralavent as it seems :) I can easily claim that skill vs stupidity fits under the topic of h1 vs h2, not that anyone can do anything about my post. Then again this is a "your preferences please" thread, my bottom line is that any stupid game is fun for me, I don't have to play serious...

Noob friendly games rock!
