Hi, I need some assistance. I recently dled a driver for my PC. It worked fine the first night I got it, but for some reason, the next day it didn't work. It hasn't worked since that first night, and that doesn't make any sense, because it DID work on the first night. Thanks for th help. And please don't tell me to get a new graphics card, I'm going to in awhile, but until then, I want this stupid driver to work.......

Hey I finally got to read your PM. Sorry I couldn't respond, my internet was screwy for a while. Anyways, since you posted this, I'll just reply here:

Did the download go well, with no freezes, no restarts, etc.? Hopefully it's not a corrupt download.
If download.com doesn't work for you, intel.com is the way to go until you get a new graphics card.
And also, is the driver you downloaded called "Intel(R) Extreme Graphics"? 'Specially made for 845 and 865 Intel cards?

If none of my details matched your current problem, then I don't know what's going on...I'm sorry I can't be of much help nowadays, but there doesn't seem to be anything "wrong" with the drivers. =/

Guys, is there any way to uninstall and reinstall the Intel drivers? If there is, tell DanceswithSMG about it, no one deserves to have grey graphics.

Add me to your friends list if you haven't already. It's a lot more fun to play with people from The Maw and people I know than random noobs.

How do you get the grey graphics? Is there a way to set it like that? I actually want to try it. LOL

Im assuming its a GPU driver. Try updating it through windows update from the Device Manager.

Ummmm.... no. There isn't a way to set it like that, that is done automatically by the IGP . And also, no, you don't want to try it. It sucks. :)

Back on topic....... Ok, to be frank, Halo can be a MAJOR pain in the ass. This whole incident is very frustrating and maddening. NO drivers I'm downloading are doing ANTHING to help.......What REALLY gets me is: WHy did the driver work the first night? Why aren't ALL of these downloads helping? I am spending hours at a time trying to solve this MADDENING issue and I am on the verge of giving up. One problem, my parents won't get me a graphics card for a while, and i'm going to go INSANE if I see ONE more grey chief. And Rust, i'll trade you graphics cards ANY DAY.

Don't worry dude, it's at least playable. =)

But I understand your pain and frustration. I remember first getting Halo trial, it looked so ugly, but nonetheless it was fun. I thought it was the trial itself, and I was thinking that the full version will give you the full graphics. But when it still happened, this puzzled me, and that was the main reason I became a full time Maw goer, because in the bottom of the screen in the internet lobby, it says something along the lines of "welcome to version 1.07! visit bungie.net, blah blah blah". I guess you can say some good things can come from bad things, you know. =)

But enough about my experiences, and more on helping you.

I don't know, if it worked the first night, and it didn't work the next day...have you downloaded anything else in between? Maybe it's some virus that's corrupting your data? I don't know for sure, but scan your computer for any viruses or spywares (assuming you have a decent anti-virus software).

Try a system restore to before you installed the driver, and then install the driver again.

You can uninstall drivers. You need to right click on "My computer", go to "Computer Management", then go down to "Device Manager" on the left pane. Then expand "Display adapters", right click --> 'Uninstall'. Then press "OK". If Windows asks to if you wan't to restart, click "No". Go to your driver that you downloaded and install that.

Two things.

First, did you uninstall your previous drivers? That makes a lot of sense, as having 2 drivers wouldn't cause a conflict until a reboot.

Second, do a driver rollback. PM, or ask any of us if you need help on any of the above.

Hrm...don't take this as an insult, but have you tried Google? Honestly, I've solved a lot more problems by (first and foremost) resisting the temptation of whacking my relatively fragile laptop with a sledgehammer, then going to google and trying what works, than I have through online forums.
