I always see spam topics in all of these forums, and desperately want to report the threads and the thread makers to the mods. But I never have any idea who's on and who isn't? I believe there should be some bar at the bottom stating who's online, and not just mods either. It'd be kinda fun to see any other members online, like some other forums I've lurked around. Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Members yes, mods no.

The reason is because they need to do their work in the shadows. If a spammer sees that "A moderator isn't on right now!!!" what you think he'll do? He'll spam the forums to heck because he's aware of the fact that no one is one right now.

Personally, I think that GoogleTalk is the most effective way. But it's essentially useless when no one is on. But when there is someone on, it's defintely the best tool to use if you want to contact them, IMO.

But the problem is that even they can't all be on at once. The way it's set up though, there should be at least one ninja on at any given moment, as they have a few who are in different timezones when others are sleeping. But I guess we can credit that to the fact that they have lives too, and can't spend it all on these Forums.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

That has been discussed before, and it would make the site more vulnerable to spam attacks if people know that no moderators are on. Some of the mods, like myself , have made their MSN names public (Ghandi_27772@hotmail.com), so you could add them to your contacts, and usually someone is on GoogleTalk (our GTalk address is bnetmods@gmail.com. It's very helpful because most of the time someone is on, although sometimes I forget to sign on to it).

How about if you Mods can turn off your own, so that no one really knows if the one is on or all of them are on?

If you need a mod just send an email to their gmail account. It is quite simple really, Ghandi is on there quite a bit. As for the members and mods in a task bar sort of thing, I would perfer not. For a few reason, Spammers would know when mods and forum cops, like myself, aren't on and drive the forums phsycotic. Another is that it would be a more simple way for people to spam their group invites to people. The last reason is.......well you get the point, it wouldn't be very good nor would it turn out very good.

Exactly, it would be cool for some of us. But it just isn't worth the repercussions it could potentially bring.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Actually, Kilroy had a pretty good idea. It's pretty much just a spam queue. You'd send all your links there and the mods would be able to look at it, shut down the spam and get back to their business without anybody knowing which mods are on and which aren't.

EDIT: lol. Forum cops.

It sure is. It's such an effective way to contact them. But, on the flip side, if no one is on it's not the best choice.

I usually try to PM when GoogleTalk isn't an option. But that's such a hassle to have to go through profiles.

But all in all, GoogleTalk is the best way to go.
