The definition of the Weekly Update: "Each week we bring you an update on the antics, shenanigans and hi-jinks that constitute seven days inside Bungie Towers. We'll look at everything from AI to animation, from marketing to multiplayer and from physics to family. We'll talk to real Bungie stars about every facet of the creation of the biggest game Bungie has ever worked on : Halo 2."
umm....is it just me or what KP said invalid? Yeah because you know he says the information of what Bungie does during the week is what defines the weekly update, yet rather in Frankie's original description he says they will be analyzing and looking at different parts of the current project (at that time Halo 2, but is now Halo 3.)
So by saying that you aren't going to talk about Halo 3 in the weekly update is a weak defense when there is evidence contradicting this.
P.S. - Why doesn't Bungie want to hype up their game? It just doesn't make sense from a marketing standpoint.
The basic idea of that definition is this : "Each week we bring you an update on the antics, shenanigans and hi-jinks that constitute seven days inside Bungie Towers". The rest is simply an explanation on what that might entail. Also, Bungie still does talk about Halo 3. You have to remember that it's still relatively early in Bungie's progress with the game, and they don't really want to give everything away yet. Yes, they want to hype up their own game. That's why they made a trailer. But that game is still in the making.
Besides, that description of the Weekly Update is dated. Bungie has had an update every week since long before any news of Halo 3, and you all were okay with that. Because they're withholding secrets, it'll just be that much juicier when you first hear it. You'll thank them later.
And as someone has already said, Bungie owes you nothing. And oh yeah, an update with humor and no Halo 3 is better than no update at all. Thanks KP.
