I think this is the correct forum. If not, I am your friend.

I was thinking of how much space is used on these forums; gigabytes of unneeded space that could be deleted. For instance, when is the last time you read any posts here? And just think of the millions of old topics in The Flood. I just thought of how much extra space Bungie would have on their severs if these were deleted. Maybe these are, after all, necessary. Maybe I'm crazy, but it does take up alot of space.

This topic was discussed a while ago, I'll bring it up again here. Many good thoughts were brought up there.

Like I said there, I think they shouldn't delete out-dated threads, think of the forums as a library. What if Humanity deleted all it's history and past records? We would be clueless of our past. Apply that here.

Well, many of us, myself included, enjoy to look back at old times. A time machine so to speak. They can also be used as lessons of what not to create threads about.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

Now I'm working off of the dusty corner of my memory, but I believe that Achronos once said that the threads on the main forums don't take up all that much space, or at least take up a miniscule amount of space compared to other things. I don't think that the old threads are taking up very much space, and sometimes the other members like to go through and try to remember the good ol' days, when chocolate bars used to cost a nickel, and no one was ever mean to one another.

Also, threads that are somewhat important would get deleted because no one updated them or replied to them.

Location: Outlaws' Summit.

I've learned a lot about this site by looking "back in time" and reading up on what how this place used to be.

I know it could probably only help with storage space and whatnot, but I think the way we have it is fine. And for those that have been here long, it's a way to get nostalgia, so to speak.

I had no idea this has been discussed. Since it has, I shall use this.

If one thing has been discussed many times, most of the posts just waste space. Like the four-hundred "how do I link my gamer tag" or "how do I change my name" or "-blam!- Bungie!" posts and most of the posts in the flood. Part of my idea was instead of locking most threads why not just delete them? They'd just waste space anyway.

You're kidding me, right? I go to that page almost everyday. Actually, I was close to making that my homepage once. I find the thread "Anyone from Brooklyn Michigan??" particually useful.

What I'm trying to say is that they best not delete that page.

It's only text. I doubt all this text would take up more than 100 mb.

It's even funnier to read the Halo 3 theories.

Most people don't look at threads that far, and I'm pretty sure that deleting all that old text wouldn't show any noticeable benefits.
